Job Description

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), with funding support from the Republic of Korea (RoK), is implementing a 12-month project titled “Improving the Living Conditions for Displaced Persons from Myanmar and Host Communities in Cox’s Bazar District” with a total budget of USD 5 million. The project aims to improve the living conditions, resilience, protection, and dignity of Rohingya refugees and vulnerable host communities in Cox’s Bazar through integrated humanitarian assistance and community-based interventions. The project will support more than 560,000 Rohingya refugees and host community members. The project will generate a wide range of humanitarian impact stories, beneficiary experiences, infrastructure improvements, service delivery milestones, and community resilience outcomes that require strategic visibility and communication support. In line with donor visibility requirements, IOM will implement a comprehensive communication and visibility plan to acknowledge the contribution of the Republic of Korea and highlight project achievements to national and international audiences. To support these efforts, IOM seeks to engage a Communications Consultant to lead the production of high-quality communication and visibility materials throughout the project implementation period. The consultant will work closely with the IOM Bangladesh Media and Communications Team, programme units, field teams, implementing partners, and external service providers to develop compelling human-interest stories, photography, videography, social media content, multimedia products, and other communication materials that showcase project results and impact. The consultant will contribute to the implementation of the project's communication and visibility plan.

Responsibilities

  1. Category A Consultants: Tasks to be performed under this contract:

  • Production of visibility content as per visibility plan within 45 working days of the hiring.

  • During the consultancy period, support DMC team to develop human-interest stories, success stories, beneficiary profiles, and impact narratives.

  • Coordination and quality assurance of photography and videography assignments within the consultancy period.

  • During the consultancy period, support for audiovisual productions, including thematic videos and multimedia storytelling products.

  • Creation of social media content for dissemination through IOM Bangladesh, regional, and global communication channels within the consultancy period.

  • During the consultancy period, ensuring compliance with IOM and Republic of Korea donor branding and visibility guidelines across all communication outputs.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and/or skills required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in multimedia, filmmaking, photography, or a related field with at least two years of relevant professional experience.
  • One year’s experience in creating visual content and graphics designing.
  • Experience in digital communications, specifically social media.
  • Experience of working with sensitivities related to gender.
  • Fluency English and Bangla are required. Chittagonian is advantageous.

Performance indicators for the evaluation of results

  • Visibility and communication materials outlined in the approved project Communication and Visibility Plan are produced and submitted within 45 working days of contract commencement and meet IOM quality standards.

  • A minimum of 6 multimedia/video storytelling products are developed, reviewed, and finalized within the consultancy period.

  • All communication products are technically accurate, beneficiary-centered, and aligned with IOM editorial and storytelling standards, requiring only minor revisions during the approval process.

  • Photography and videography assignments are effectively coordinated, with all required raw and edited files delivered according to agreed specifications, timelines, and quality standards.

  • Communication support is provided for project milestones, field missions, and visibility opportunities, including drafting content, collecting field materials, and coordinating with programme teams and service providers.

  • A well-organized repository of photographs, videos, captions, consent forms (where applicable), and communication assets is established and handed over to the IOM Bangladesh Media and Communications Team.

  • All communication and visibility products comply with IOM branding requirements and Republic of Korea donor visibility guidelines, with no major compliance issues identified during review.

  • Deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and receive satisfactory acceptance from the IOM Bangladesh Media and Communications Team and relevant programme managers.

Travel required

  • Need-basis field movement in the duty station. No movement to DSA-categorized area.
