Mission and objectives

UNIDO TUN organization mission TBD

Context

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations established in 1966 and became a specialized UN agency in 1985.

Mandate:

UNIDO’s core mandate is to promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in developing countries and economies in transition. Its work is closely aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).

The UNIDO Field Office in Tunisia implements a dynamic portfolio of projects supporting inclusive and sustainable industrial development, in alignment with national strategies and SDG 9. These initiatives span key sectors such as green industrialization, circular economy, youth and women’s economic empowerment, sustainable textiles, e-mobility, and climate-resilient industries.

In this context, the National UN Youth Volunteer will contribute to enhancing the coordination and delivery of UNIDO activities by supporting project teams and field office operations

This volunteer assignment is supported by the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia as part of an initiative in partnership with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program to enhance youth inclusion, with a focus on the inclusion of young people with disabilities (2024-2026). Therefore, applications from young people with disabilities who meet the required qualifications are strongly encouraged.
