Under the direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer for Green Freight, the candidate will support the Sustainable Mobility Unit in delivering the following products/services; 1. Develop a report detailing at least three South-South knowledge exchanges (online) between the Bi-Oceanic Corridor, the Northern Corridor, the Central Corridor, the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor, the Southern Africa Corridor, or the ASEAN region; 2. Submit a report detailing technical assistance provided for the development of the Green Freight Strategy and Action Plan for the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor; 3. Develop a strategy for how UNEP can support the development of e-BRT and e-bus projects in African cities that can be replicated across sub-regions; 4. Develop a stakeholder engagement report related to the development of an HDV electrification roadmap or strategy in the SADC region; 5. Develop a scale-up concept and funding proposal to expand the UNEP Green Freight Programme.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. The overall objective of the Industry and Economy Division of UNEP is to encourage decision makers in government, local authorities, and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies, practices, and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals, and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. It promotes the development, use, and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices, and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. The Sustainable Mobility Unit (SMU) is part of the Industry and Economy Division and promotes sustainable low-and zero-emissions transport in low-and middle-income countries around the world through projects and programmes on cleaner Fuels and Vehicles, Electric Mobility, Active Mobility and Transport Digitalisation. UNEP is implementing the Global Electric Mobility Programme, supporting close to 60 low and middle-income countries to shift to electric mobility for improved air quality and climate change mitigation. This work will comprise the organization of meetings, collection of data, writing of technical reports and development of technical tools as well as the implementation of virtual and physical training and capacity building events. Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in engineering, transport or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of three years’ work experience in transport projects in African countries is required. Knowledge on transport issues in Africa, including strong research experience in African transport systems specifically, is required. Experience in data collection and research is required. Experience in data analysis and modelling skills is highly desirable. Familiarity with transport planning frameworks and transport modelling is highly desirable. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post, fluency in oral and written English is required.
