IFC is seeking MAS Investment Analyst, based in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to support the Manufacturing, Agribusiness, and Services (MAS) team in driving impactful private sector investments primarily across Central Asian countries. The selected person will work closely with IFC’s more senior Investment Officers on the identification, design, negotiation, structuring and subsequent supervision of the Corporation’s MAS investments (including assistance in portfolio restructurings, rescheduling, capital increases, equity sales etc.).
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct detailed financial, market, and risk analyses to support the identification, structuring, and execution of investment opportunities in the MAS sectors, ensuring alignment with IFC’s strategic priorities.
• Collaborate with senior team members to prepare high-quality investment proposals, including financial models, due diligence reports, and risk assessments, for presentation to internal committees and external stakeholders.
• Support the end-to-end investment process, including sourcing potential clients, negotiating terms, and closing transactions, while ensuring compliance with IFC policies and procedures.
• Monitor and manage a portfolio of existing investments, including tracking financial performance, identifying risks, and recommending appropriate actions to enhance portfolio quality and impact.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry stakeholders, and co-investors to identify new business opportunities and foster long-term partnerships.
• Conduct sectoral and macroeconomic research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in target markets, contributing to the development of IFC’s investment strategy in the MAS sectors.
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives by preparing case studies, lessons learned, and best practices to enhance team capabilities and inform future investments.
• Actively participate in cross-functional teams and collaborate with colleagues across IFC to deliver integrated solutions that maximize development impact and financial sustainability.
• Support the development and implementation of innovative financing structures and products to address client needs and advance IFC’s mission of promoting private sector development in emerging markets.
Selection Criteria
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a financial institution, investment firm, or other finance-related field, with demonstrated expertise in sourcing, structuring, and closing investments, as well as supervising loan and equity exposures.
• Proven ability to conduct financial analysis, including modeling, valuation, and risk assessment, with a strong understanding of investment principles and market dynamics.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex transactions, including due diligence, negotiation, and documentation, with a track record of delivering results under tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including clients, partners, and internal teams.
• Proficiency in financial tools and software, such as Excel, Bloomberg, or other relevant platforms, with the ability to leverage technology for data analysis and decision-making.
