Scope:

The IT Department supports the organization’s work by providing reliable and scalable applications and infrastructure of the IRC’s offices in the US and around the world, including many technologically challenging locations. An integral component of this effort is ensuring that Country Programs have the capacity to implement and support these IT initiatives effectively across the country offices and in the field sites. Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Intern will provide desktop support services to end users and oversee the office Network infrastructure configuration and management in the office under his purview. This also includes computers and end users’ applications installations, mobile devices configurations, installation and configuration of network printers and other computers peripherals. A key aspect of this role is to expose the intern to real ente prise challenges and to ensure that all technology implementations in-country conform to the global IT policies.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration and under supervision of the IT Manager to ensure that end users computers are setup and configured with the IRC standard Operating system and applications versions (IRC image).

  • Monitor and maintain IT systems across the Bamenda office and all field sites.

  • Ensure that computers peripherals such as scanners, printers, monitors, mouse and others are configured and properly working for all field staff members.

  • Aid end users for the configuration and troubleshooting of Microsoft suite products such as Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Assist on the monitoring and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure following applicable IRC policies.

  • Work with the Country/Regional IT Lead, the IRC Network Operations Center (NOC) and Internet Service provider to ensure that offices are always connected to Internet and that all users are connected to the LAN and have access to Internet.

  • Assist on Maintaining up to date IT documentation reflecting current computers assets status and network configurations.

  • Ensure timely delivery of IT project activities and resolution of IT issues.

  • Perform other duties as directed by the IT Manager.

Job Requirements:
Education: Bacc + 2 or bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and/or equivalent in relevant field

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems (Windows 10/11) and Applications suite installation and troubleshooting (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Teams, OneDrive, and Box

Drive)

  • Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical troubleshooting results to IT peers for seamless issue resolution.

  • Experience in printers, desktop and laptop installation and maintenance.

Soft Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to work harmoniously with other staff members in cross cultural contexts.

  • Good verbal communication and report-writing skills with the ability to convey information effectively in the Country's official languages (English and French).

  • Proven sense of professional discretion, integrity, and ability to manage situations diplomatically and to effective resolution.

Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English (French is an advantage).

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate must:

  • Be under 26 years of age;

  • Have a solid foundation in Windows 10 and 11;

  • Have experience using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and MS Teams;

  • Be proficient in managing tickets via ServiceNow;

  • Be able to use remote support tools;

  • Be able to communicate in French and English.
