We are seeking motivated, detail-oriented professionals with strong office administration, proofreading, and technology skills to join our pool of prospective Administrative Coordinators to support teams at our Washington, D.C. Headquarters.


Key Responsibilities

Administrative Coordinators provide wide-ranging operational, communication, and logistical support to their divisions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Document Production and Quality Assurance: compiling, formatting, and editing documents, ranging from correspondence to lengthy reports, according to IMF style guidelines; proofreading for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and adherence to institutional standards; integrating charts, tables, figures, and statistical outputs into polished publications.

  • Internal Review and Workflow Management: coordinating the internal review process of a wide range of documents; monitoring review mailboxes, distributing materials to reviewers, and tracking deadlines; organizing, formatting, and posting consolidated review comments on behalf of the team.

  • Operational and Logistical Coordination: managing official travel logistics, including travel authorizations and expense reports; supporting the planning and delivery of seminars, workshops, and conferences at Headquarters and overseas by arranging venues, catering, materials, and participant support; maintaining accurate, well-organized electronic filing systems and retrieving documents from internal repositories.

  • Communication and Scheduling: managing complex calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating communications within the Fund and with officials from member countries; disseminating and reinforcing administrative policies and procedures across the division to ensure compliance.

  • Technical and Systems Support: providing first-line support to colleagues for Fund systems and office technologies; troubleshooting basic issues and guiding staff through system processes.

Qualifications and Competencies


We are seeking candidates who demonstrate professionalism, accuracy, and a commitment to service excellence. Qualified applicants should bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma with at least two years of relevant experience. Applicants with 2–5 years of administrative coordination experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional English proofreading and document formatting ability, including working with style guides.

  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • High accuracy and attention to detail in fast-paced, deadline-driven settings.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn evolving technologies.

We value the diverse backgrounds and perspectives Administrative Coordinators bring to the Fund. We are especially interested in candidates who are native speakers of Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish.

Selection Process

Only candidates who are currently residing in the Washington DC metro area will be considered.  

Candidates for this position must pass the online Administrative Coordinator assessment. If your application meets the minimum qualifications, and you have not taken the assessment within the past 12 months, you will receive a link to an online assessment which you will need to complete within 10 days. The assessment is comprised of scenario-based multiple-choice questions, MS Word simulation, and Windows and normally takes approximately 50 minutes to complete.

Candidates who pass the assessment may be invited to a preliminary interview. Successful applicants may enter our active candidate pipeline. Hiring managers across the Fund may invite you to interview for open roles for a period of six months after entering the pipeline. 

Selected candidates will typically receive a contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability, and continuous business needs.
