Mission and objectives

The UN Country Team (UNCT) Liberia is led by the UN Resident Coordinator who coordinates all the UN’s operations in Liberia with the support of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office.

The UN Resident Coordinator's Office provides direct support to the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team, including advisory, technical and management support. The office coordinates the implementation of the UNDAF and helps the UNCT operate more efficiently through harmonized business transaction and cost effectiveness. It is made up of three units namely; the Core Coordination Unit, the Peace, Political and Development Unit and the Liberia Multi-Partner Trust Fund/Peacebuilding Fund (PBF).

Context

The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) Liberia is committed to advancing disability inclusion in line with the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS). Strengthening disability inclusion in joint programming, workplace systems, and operations is essential to ensuring that no one is left behind.
Recent UNDIS assessments emphasize the need for:
• Systematic inclusion of people with disabilities and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in programme formulation and monitoring
• Enhanced accessibility, reasonable accommodation systems, and inclusive recruitment practices
• Reliable disability-disaggregated data at institutional and programmatic levels
In Liberia, the UNCT seeks to conduct a comprehensive review of disability inclusion across joint programmes as well as internal UN system workplace arrangements to align with UNDIS benchmarks.
To support this work, the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office seeks a UN Volunteer with lived experience of disability to provide coordination, analytical, and engagement support.
