Job description

The Research Associate will contribute to fulfilling the CBSS Secretariat’s role in the We-ID project under the leadership of the Senior Adviser for Regional Identity and in collaboration with other project partners. The CBSS Secretariat’s commitment to integrate scientific evidence generated by the project with policy recommendations and decision-making processes includes dissemination activities such as scenario building exercises, feedback loops from practitioner audiences, evidence-based fact checking of the assumptions and effectiveness of policies, the evaluation of best/worst practices, and regular relevance checks of the research results produced within the project.

The incumbent will contribute to carrying through the CBSS Secretariat’s role in three work packages:

  1. narrative research relevant for the project (wp6);
  2. policy making or regulations, incl. standardisation (wp7);
  3. communication, dissemination and engagement (wp1).

In particular, the tasks will include:

  • Contribution to creating a concept for resilient democratic communities and to developing a Civic Competences Toolbox for local actors to support local communities, moderate conflicts and controversies and create spaces for participation.

  • Involvement in roundtable discussions (i.e. focusing on providing input on specific research topics in the respective working groups), dialogue forums (i.e. focusing on creating cross-links between specific research topics in all working groups), and written outputs such as policy briefs and recommendations.

The Research Associate reports to the Senior Adviser for Regional Identity, who coordinates the CBSS Secretariat’s overall involvement in the project.

Other tasks may include:

  • Handle administrative tasks when planning, coordinating, and executing project meetings, workshops, seminars, webinars, and international conferences, including logistical arrangements, agenda setting, participant coordination and liaising with speakers and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation and records.
  • Coordinate project logistics and communicate with team members, partners and stakeholders as needed.
  • Support with internal and external communication related to the We-ID (We-PARL) Project in coordination with the Senior Adviser for Regional Identity and the CBSS Media and Communications Unit.
  • Contribute to the drafting of policy briefs, reports, guidelines, and strategic documents related to the project.
  • Support the Senior Adviser in risk management in identifying and mitigating project-related risks.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
