Overview of position

Under the overall direct supervision of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Programme Manager and senior MHPSS assistant, and overall supervision of Deputy Chief of Mission, the successful candidates will be responsible and accountable for the direct implementation of the MHPSS activities through providing direct services through group and individual modalities. In addition, providing support for capacity building efforts on MHPSS both internally and externally. 

Role objectives
  • Take lead in organizing and facilitating MHPSS Trainings and workshops, and developing the capacity of relevant MHPSS workers, national first responders, health workers, and active CSOmembers

     
  • Work with management team and technical focal point in IOM MHPSS team to update, modify and create training content

  • Support in providing capacity building for IOM teams to increase technical capacity and referral by other units.

  • SupportinorganizingeventsandworkshopsinlinewithIOMCommunityBasedMental Health and Psychosocial SupportApproach

  • Support in drafting training letters, agendas, and preparing relevant documents in preparation for trainings, workshops, andevents

  • Engage with community mobilizers, and community leaders to coordinate, organize, and promote MHPSS activities in the designatedlocations

  • Liaisecloselyandcoordinatewiththehealth,protection,andMRRMteamsworkingin the area. This includes planning of the weekly visits, meetings, workshops, trainings, and soon.

  • Undertake all administrative and office related roles to ensuring the successful implementation of tasks and the project activities.

  • When required, develop purchase Request Forms (PRFs) and Goods receipt note (GRNs), get necessary approval, and liaise with other unit/programs/departments within IOM to ensure that all travel and venue booking is completed intime.

  • Develop all necessary paperwork and get necessary approval liaising with other unit/programs/departments within IOM to ensure that all arrangements for trainings to be conducted in Tunis and Libya are being completed ontime.

  • SupporttheprogrammemanagerinidentifyingcapacitybuildingopportunitiesinLibya for Civil Society Organizations and Government counterparts, develop training materials and contribute to the delivery of trainings if required (translation or leading sessions).

  • Liaise with IOM partners, especially Civil Society Organizations and Government counterpartstoensureinterventionsaredeliveredinlinewithinternationalguidelines and standards and IOMpolicies.

  • Provide psychosocial support to the members of the migrantcommunity

  • Work on creating a system for proper documentation for trainings, and workshop reports(Invitationletters,conceptnotes,logisticalnotes,agenda,trainingreport,etc.,)

  • Provide the programme manager with timely and accurate information of delivered activities, reports, case notes, and referrals and in compliance with IOM reporting formats andtimeframes

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments with individuals and families to assess and review their main concerns, needs, and overall situations, and coordinate with other units , and take lead, during mapping and assessment visits for schools/urbanlocations

  • Deliver individual and group counselling sessions to identified beneficiaries with mental health and psychosocial needs in line with IOM MHPSS community-based approach.

  • Engage with community mobilizers, and community leaders to coordinate, organize, and promote MHPSS activities in the designatedlocations

  • Participate in defining effective and culturally appropriate psychosocial approaches and interventions on the communitylevel.

  • Conduct visits to detention centers (DCs), disembarkation points, shelters, and urban locations to assess the needs of migrants, IDPs and host communities and provide assistanceaccordingly.

  • Makenecessaryreferraltootherunits,programs,anddepartmentswithinIOMandto otherstakeholders.

  • Travel to any location as requested by the direct supervisor when/wherenecessary.

  • Conduct services mapping exercises in order to identify other units and stakeholders working to address the need of migrants in the relevant DCs and urban locations and needs of IDPs and hosting communities.

  • Report any challenges and potentials hiccups in the process to the senior MHPSS assistant & Programme Manager in a timely manner.

  • Attend training sessions and document all process for processing approvals, authorizations maintaining up to date copies of all documents.

  • Liaise with other IOM units in particular Protection in addition to VHR, Health and Technical Cooperation, Community Stabilization and MRRM to guarantee a holistic approach to responses, management of identified cases and referral when necessary.

  • Attend meetings – both programmatic and Technical on regular basis.

  • Submit weekly and monthly reports documents all activities and services provided.

  • Undertake any other duty as may be assigned by the senior MHPSS assistant and PM
