Monteverde Friends School seeks: Third and Fourth-Grade Teacher (in English)

 

Monteverde Friends School seeks an experienced, dynamic, and creative teacher to lead our third and fourth-grade class beginning in August 2026. The ideal candidate will have experience establishing a classroom culture that supports children socially, emotionally, and academically. Experience in early literacy and early math pedagogy is required. Strong candidates will also have interest or expertise in Quaker education, outdoor education, working with an assistant or co-teacher, and teaching students with diverse learning styles.

Note: Our 3/4 class is taught in English. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in an education-related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with children in grades 1-6.

  • Intermediate-level Spanish is helpful but not required. 

 

Compensation and Benefits: 

  • Salary as determined by step on the salary scale. 

  • Health care through the Costa Rican national health care system (CAJA). 

  • Visa / Immigration expenses are covered; the school’s Business Office provides support in navigating the visa process if necessary

  • Aguinaldo (Christmas bonus, equal to one-twelfth of yearly pay). 

  • Participation in national teacher retirement plan (Magisterio managed by Jupema).
