Context

Under the supervision of the Chief of Communication, the Digital Communication Specialist will provide professional support in delivering effective digital outreach. The objective is to promote awareness, understanding, support and respect for children’s and women’s rights. The incumbent will be accountable for managing content across social media channels, monitoring performance, and contributing to the design and implementation of digital communication campaigns, including online media plans targeting diverse stakeholders.

Task description

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Chief of section or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Digital Communication Specialist will:

Strategy implementation and campaigns
1.Develop and implement a digital communication strategy aligned with UNICEF’s communication and advocacy priorities in the country.
2.Monitor current events, public opinion and media trends; advise management on appropriate digital media responses.
3.Analyse the implementation and impact of UNICEF DRC’s social media presence; produce detailed monthly reports using online monitoring tools.
4.Lead web content development and integration for UNICEF campaigns to support advocacy goals.

Content creation and outreach
1.Manage UNICEF DRC’s digital media platforms and strengthen online community engagement.
2.Ensure all content is aligned with UNICEF’s voice, messaging and strategic direction, with attention to sensitive issues and factual accuracy.
3.Coordinate social media communication and build relationships with key partners, donors, ambassadors and influencers to maximize visibility and traffic.
4.Collaborate with DGCA, Programme, Country and Regional colleagues to create compelling content, landing pages and microsites for campaigns, partnerships, reports and critical initiatives.

Capacity building and support
1.Contribute to the development and application of digital communication guidelines, procedures and governance standards.
2.Provide technical support and training to Country Office and Programme colleagues to ensure a consistent stream of content from the field, especially during emergencies (epidemics, natural disasters, conflicts).
3.Support knowledge-sharing and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen digital communication skills across teams.

Results/expected outputs
As an active UNICEF DRC team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNICEF DRC and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including:
Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment
A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed
