About the position

PABRA, under the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, is looking for a temporary nutrition and food technologist assistant to support nutrition in schools and communities, product development and optimization, and demand creation for SMEs.

Key duties & responsibilities

  • Capacity building on nutrition in schools through the development of training materials, training and backstopping them

  • Monitoring & Evaluation of high iron bean progress in School feeding based on key indicators.

  • Community capacity building on nutrition in Western Province Bean-based Product Development with SMEs by identifying and working with new and existing SMEs and partners, including product design and development

  • Develop educational, Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC), and promotional materials and campaigns, including social media, to promote the nutritional benefits of beans, vegetables and bean-based processed food products.

  • Maintain accurate records of project activities and outcomes.

  • Prepare regular progress reports for the supervisor and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in nutrition, food and consumer economics, food science, foodstuff technology or a related discipline.

  • Creativity and critical thinking are key.

  • Strong understanding of food chemistry, microbiology, and processing technologies.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and industry-specific software.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including social media.

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Terms of employment

This is a temporary staff position based in Kigali, Rwanda. The initial contract will be for a period of six (6) months, subject to the availability of funds and performance.
