Job Description: Executive Assistant to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

The New Development Bank (“NDB” or the “Bank”) is inviting applications for the position of Executive Assistant to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (VP and CFO). This position is at Senior Professional level (Grade 7) in the Bank.

The Executive Assistant will be responsible for assisting the VP and CFO in all areas of their work to achieve the corporate, strategic and operational objectives of the Bank. The Executive Assistant will also play a key liaison role with all internal and external stakeholders of the NDB.

The role offers incumbents an excellent opportunity to acquire a holistic understanding of development banking, strategy implementation, risk management, policy making, global challenges such as climate change, sustainability, infrastructure financing, and contribute to multilateral engagements.  

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Provide research, analytical, and operational support on all matters as required by the VP and CFO to support the preparation and execution of the strategy and decision making in the Bank.
  • Liaison with and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders of the Bank.
  • Coordinate with all departments and divisions within the Bank as required and facilitate cross functional collaboration to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Support the VP and CFO with preparation of agenda and follow-up on management decisions with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of key documents for the VP and CFO.
  • Coordinate across the institution to ensure that relevant inputs are obtained in a timely manner for decision making by the VP and CFO.
  • Prepare memos, correspondence and reports on behalf of the VP and CFO, including drafting speeches and speaking notes in alignment with the overall strategy and objectives of the Bank.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.

Position Requirements and Competencies:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field from a reputed university. Relevant professional certification/s would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in multilateral development banks, national governments, commercial banks, other financial institutions or top tier think tanks.
  • Relevant in-depth and hands-on experience in one or more areas in the field of Corporate finance and investment banking, Treasury, Portfolio Management, Finance, Budget and Accounting.
  • Candidates with relevant experience in multilateral development banks, financial and investment policies and operations, and with sound cooperative relations and experience with relevant government authorities of member countries are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in working under stringent deadlines and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Problem solving, communication, conflict management and interpersonal skills with high resilience and drive in achieving objectives and goals.
  • Desire to challenge the status quo and bring in new ideas, innovation and approaches.
  • Strong interpersonal, diplomatic, negotiation, team play and organisational skill sets.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, service-oriented and detail-attentive.
  • Exercising discretion and maintaining integrity of sensitive information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in English language.
