IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including Counter-Trafficking, Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion, Disasters, Climate and Resilience, Immigration and Border Governance, Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Policy and Data Hub, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.
The DCR unit of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) plays a crucial role in preparedness, prevention, and emergency response. It works alongside government partners and local and international counterparts to strengthen their capacity. The DCR unit supports the national and local cluster system, particularly the National Cluster on Displacement and Protection (Klasnas PP), and contributes to the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) cluster, where IOM is a global lead agency.
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate and overall supervision of the Project Officer of DCR unit in Jakarta, the Project Associate will be responsible for verifying that all components of humanitarian assistance operations in Medan/Pekanbaru and other assigned projects are implemented in line with the approved workplans and budgets and assist the field team to mainstream protection principles and reduce protection concerns at the refugee-hosting sites. Work closely with relevant IOM staff and partners to support the centrality of protection in the response and to strengthen the protection environment for the refugees
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Assist in the implementation of all components of humanitarian assistance operations in line with the approved workplans and budgets;
2. Conduct monitoring and quality control for humanitarian response activities implemented by the IOM field team, partners or vendors, in line with humanitarian standards and IOM guidelines;
3. Maintain partnership with local authorities and other local partners;
4. Support the field team to mainstream protection principles and reduce protection concerns at the refugee-hosting sites. Work closely with relevant IOM staff and partners to verify the centrality of protection in the response and to strengthen the protection environment for the refugees;
5. Identify and report immediately any challenges or risks to the beneficiaries, staff or partners;
6. Adhere to IOM data protection principles and data protection policy at field level;
7. Support the team to collect and maintain relevant information to contribute to the program monitoring of performance indicators and regular reporting systems by preparing data analysis, summary sheets, internal reports and other form of monitoring tools in accordance with program needs;
8. In coordination with finance and procurement departments, monitor all administrative procedures timely and according to IOM standards;
9. Support the coordination and logistics preparations for field visit by donor or government delegations as requested;
10. In coordination with Senior Project Associate/Head of Field Office and the Project Officer, participate in local coordination meetings;
11. Perform any other duties as required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Social Work, Gender, Development Studies, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least three years of relevant working experience, or;
- High School degree with at least five years of relevant working experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Experience supporting humanitarian or development programmes, preferably programmes targeting populations on the move;
- Experience with government coordination;
- Experience on Cash-based intervention project
- Experience conducting household-based surveys
- Experience implements community complaint and feedback mechanism and humanitarian response

Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required (oral and written).
