Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Organizational Context and Scope
Within the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Thailand, the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) Unit leads the implementation the Migration, Business and Human Rights (MBHR) Programme, which focuses on advancing responsible business practices, ethical recruitment, and the protection of migrant workers across global supply chains in line with the “Protect, Respect and Remedy” framework of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. As part of this programme, IOM Thailand is leading a data-driven initiative aimed at strengthening human rights due diligence (HRDD) and improving how risks related to forced labour and migrant worker vulnerability are identified, understood, and addressed. The initiative combines stakeholder engagement, data ecosystem mapping, and methodology development to support more comparable, scalable, and worker-informed approaches to due diligence and decision-making.
The first phase of the initiative focuses on:
• building partnerships and engaging stakeholders across sectors;
• identifying data gaps, needs, and practical use cases;
• supporting the development of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and future platform design;
• aligning stakeholder inputs with technical work on methodology and data systems.
Under the overall supervision of the Head of LMI, and the direct supervision of Programme Officer, the Senior Project Associate – Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) will support the coordination, implementation, and delivery of project activities, ensuring effective integration across workstreams and contributing to stakeholder engagement, knowledge generation, and project operations.
Responsibilities
1. Coordinate the day-to-day project activities by maintaining workplans, timelines, and task trackers, monitoring deliverables, deadlines, and dependencies across workstreams and following up on outstanding actions to support timely implementation of project activities.
2. Maintain and verify the stakeholder database and outreach tracker, including contact information, engagement status, follow-ups, and next steps to support accurate reporting and coordinated stakeholder engagement activities.
3. Facilitate the organisation webinars, bilateral consultations, workshops, and events by arranging schedules, participant coordination, invitations as well as logistical and technical requirements to facilitate effective implementation of project activities.
4. Help in the preparation of meeting agendas, background materials, and clear discussion summaries by documenting key decisions and action points to support timely follow-up.
5. Support stakeholder engagement processes by coordinating outreach communications, monitoring follow-up actions and maintaining timely and consistent communication with partners, supporting project implementation.
6. Compile and verify inputs for progress reports, presentations, and briefing materials, maintain project documentation and engagement records, and organise project information to support accurate reporting, knowledge management and consistent access across the project team.
7. Compile and consolidate research, mapping, and consultation inputs by organising information on stakeholders, initiatives, relevant data ecosystems, existing tools and frameworks to support project outputs and informed operational decision making.
8. Assist in preparing and maintaining of presentations, briefing and outreach materials, newsletters, and other communication resources by applying organisational standards to support consistent internal and external communication.
9. Monitor project deliverables, milestones, and engagement indicators by reviewing implementation progress, stakeholder participation, consultation activities, and event outputs to support timely reporting and operational follow up.
10. Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Migration Studies, Development Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least four (4) years of relevant professional experience; or,
• High school diploma with at least six (6) years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
• Experience in project coordination and implementation in a multi-stakeholder environment;
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, event coordination, or partnership support;
• Experience in research, data collection, or analytical support is an advantage; and,
• Experience within international organizations or UN agencies is an advantage.
Skills
• Familiarity with human rights due diligence, labour migration, or responsible business practices is desirable;
• Strong organizational and coordination skills, with attention to detail;
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision;
• Strong drafting, note-taking, and synthesis skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and,
• Ability to work effectively in diverse and multi-cultural teams.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English and Thai is required (oral and written).
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
