Organizational Context and Scope
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Migration Agency, is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non‑governmental partners. IOM promotes the orderly and humane management of migration, advances international cooperation on migration issues, supports practical solutions to emerging challenges, and provides humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including internally displaced persons.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Monitor budget by verifying availability of funds, obtaining necessary approval and updating budget-related information.
Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organisational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
Draft status reports, identify shortfalls, escalate issues to the supervisor and suggest remedial actions to address delivery gaps.
Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.
- Respond to complex information requests and inquiries, set up and maintain files/records, and organise meetings, workshops and training sessions.
- Participate in meetings and conferences to assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, United Nation (UN) agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
- Assist in monitoring work of Implementing Partners (IP) and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff.
Perform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or,
- High School diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.
- Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
Good level of computer literacy.
Ability to work with national and international institutions.
Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
Good communication skills.

Ability to identify resource requirements and report them to the supervisor.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in spanish is required (oral and written)
Desirable: Working knowledge of English.
