Under the overall guidance of the UNODC GMCP Programme Officer in Libya, the Individual Contractor will perform the following tasks: Transportation services • Provide safe and timely transportation of UNODC staff, consultants, and authorized personnel. • Transport official documents, materials, and equipment as required. • Ensure punctuality and adherence to agreed schedules. Vehicle maintenance and compliance • Ensure that the assigned vehicle is kept clean and in good mechanical condition. • Conduct daily vehicle checks (fuel, oil, tires, brakes, lights, etc.). • Maintain vehicle logbooks accurately and consistently. • Report any mechanical issues or incidents immediately to the supervisor. Security and safety compliance • Strictly adhere to UN security procedures and local traffic regulations. • Support compliance with UNDSS movement protocols and security clearance requirements. • Maintain confidentiality regarding official matters. Logistics support • Support the coordination of airport arrivals and departures for staff and mission members, including facilitating protocol, visa, customs, and immigration formalities when required. • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, documents, and packages, ensuring timely distribution to relevant offices and personnel. • Assist with logistics arrangements for incoming missions, including transport coordination and administrative support.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Background of the assignment: The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), through its Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP), implements the project “Support for maritime safety and security management in Libya to address all forms of transnational organized crime in line with human rights principles.” The implementation of programme activities requires regular transportation of UNODC personnel, consultants, partners, and materials within Tripoli and to other locations across Libya. Safe, reliable, and professional driving services are essential to ensure smooth programme implementation in line with UN security and operational procedures. To support ongoing field activities, UNODC seeks to engage a qualified Driver to provide safe and timely transportation services. 2. Purpose of the assignment: The purpose of this assignment is to provide professional driving services to support UNODC programme activities, ensuring safe transportation of personnel and materials in compliance with UN security regulations and operational standards.
Qualifications/special skills
High school diploma or equivalent is required. A valid national driving license is required. A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in driving and logistics/administrative support in an international organization is required. Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge is required. Good knowledge of Tripoli and surrounding areas is desirable. A Grade B and above drivers permit/license (to be able to operate an Armoured Vehicle) is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this post, fluency in both oral and written Arabic is required. Basic knowledge of English is also required. Knowledge of another official United Nations Secretariat language is an advantage.
