Organizational Setting

FAO Thailand works under overall corporate guidance and in line with the Strategic Framework, offers policy advice and support to Thailand in the mandated areas of FAO, facilitated through partnerships, resources and an active country programme to provide technical assistance, develop capacities and deliver core services while fully observing international standards of accountability to establish leadership and strengthen impact at the country level.
FAO Thailand delivers on the programmatic priorities of Thailand as agreed in the Country Programming Framework (CPF) aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes and project formulation in Thailand, in collaboration with FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP), FAO headquarters, the government and stakeholders.

The position is based in FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (RAP) in Bangkok, Thailand and requires office attendance.


Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific (DRR, RAP)/Head of Office for FAO Thailand, the National Programme Analyst reports to the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme), FAO Thailand.

Tasks and responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the DRR/RAP/ Head of Office for FAO Thailand, with direct supervision from the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme), FAO Thailand, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:

• Support FAO-Thailand in coordination with the Royal Thai Government (RTG), ensuring close coordination between FAO and the official FAO Focal Point in Thailand, line Ministries, and other relevant stakeholders and partners within the country.
• Assist AFAOR (Programme) in coordination of FAO programmes and projects formulation, development in Thailand, ensuring alignment with FAO’s operational rules and regulations as well as the country’s priorities and monitoring the progress of project formulation, submission of country proposals, project approval and countersignature by the government.
• Support FAO’s activities in Thailand e.g. events, meetings, workshops, trainings, field visits, ensuring that all arrangements and communications are conducted in accordance with the protocol and procedures of the Government of Thailand and the United Nations.
• Manage and process official correspondence, including the preparation, submission, tracking, and follow-up of official letters and documents with relevant government agencies and stakeholders.
• Support in the preparation for meetings of Thai Affairs including briefs, talking points, and background notes for meetings , reports and briefing materials for FAO-Thailand and the UN Country Team (UNCT) in Thailand.
• Support AFAOR (Programme) and RAP technical officers on UNCT designated areas, ensuring effective coordination, communication, reporting, and follow-up with relevant UN partners.
• Attend relevant meetings and accompany FAO Management/Officers to relevant meetings and prepare summary notes as required.
• Assist in the translation, interpretation and editing of documents and communications in Thai and English if requested.
• Provide overall administrative support to FAO-Thailand in close collaboration with RAP colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.


CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING


Minimum Requirements

• Advanced university degree in a bona fide educational institution in Social Sciences, Public and Business Administration, Economics, or other closely related fields of the Organization.
• One year of relevant experience with the government or public sector in programme management and/or general coordination or liaison.
• Working knowledge of English and Thai (proficiency – level C)
• National of Thailand or resident of the country with a valid work permit.
