In the Middle East Region, Malteser International (MI) is operating in the context of the humanitarian crisis in Syria since 2012 implementing emergency relief measures in Türkiye, Syria, and Lebanon and since 2014 in Iraq. MI’s programs cover needs mainly in the health sector and are mostly partner implemented. In the Holy Land, in the Holy Land, MI is coordinating the provision of primary health care services to affected communities.
For its envisioned support in the Holy Land, Malteser International is looking for qualified Psychologists with experience in providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) services in humanitarian and primary healthcare settings.
As a Psychologist, you will play a key role in promoting the mental health and psychosocial well-being of vulnerable communities. You will conduct psychological assessments, provide evidence-based psychological interventions, including Psychological First Aid (PFA), individual and group psychosocial support, and psychoeducation sessions.
Your responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological assessments and provide evidence-based mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services tailored to patients' individual needs.
- Deliver Psychological First Aid (PFA), individual and group psychosocial support sessions, and psychoeducation to promote emotional well-being and resilience.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure integrated, patient-centered care and contribute to comprehensive case management.
- Identify patients requiring specialized mental health, protection, or other support services, and facilitate safe, appropriate referrals and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records, case documentation, and required reports in accordance with organizational standards.
- Uphold ethical and professional standards, safeguarding principles, and patient confidentiality while providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care.
- Participate in technical supervision, case discussions, and continuous professional development to strengthen the quality of MHPSS services.
Your profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Counselling; a Master's degree in Psychology is preferred
- Fluency in Arabic and good command of English
- Experience providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) in conflict, emergency, or humanitarian settings
- Experience providing MHPSS services to vulnerable populations, preferably within primary healthcare settings
- Knowledge of the IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings and evidence-based psychological interventions
- Experience working with referral pathways and multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated patient care
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and engage effectively with patients

- Start Date: As soon as possible
- Duty Station: One position based in Gaza City and one remote position (preference will be given to candidates based in West Bank)
- Duration of contract: until 31.12.2026 (with possibility of extension upon further project funding)
