The Communications Department (COM) is the IMF’s center for strategic communication. It develops and coordinates the IMF’s external and internal communications strategy, shapes key messages, advises IMF Management and staff on how best to convey those messages, and monitors and responds to what is being said and written about the institution and its activity.

COM’s Publishing Division (COMPD) produces a wide range of publications, manages the IMF’s public website (IMF.org) and digital online library (eLibrary.IMF.org), and oversees marketing and distribution of IMF metadata and content through various digital platforms and scholarly and commercial publishing channels. COMPD strives to ensure that Fund publications and digital content are aligned with strategic institutional priorities and support the Fund’s larger outreach efforts. Working closely with staff in other departments, the division helps to promote knowledge sharing with both internal and external audiences, including preparation, release, and supporting outreach of publications and online content under tight deadlines. COMPD also tracks distribution and use of IMF publications and online content in various digital and print formats.

Duties and Responsibilities 

COM’s Publishing Division (COMPD) is seeking an experienced Content Author/CMS Specialist to support IMF.org and a portfolio of websites built on Sitecore XM Cloud. This hands-on role focuses on content publishing, website maintenance, metadata management, quality assurance, and digital content optimization across multiple sites and languages. Under the general supervision of the Division Chief and Deputy Division Chiefs, key responsibilities of the Communications Officer will include:

Content Publishing and Website Management

  • Create, update, and publish content in Sitecore XM Cloud using approved templates and components.

  • Manage content updates across multiple websites and language versions.

  • Support content migrations, content audits, and ongoing site maintenance.

  • Perform quality assurance (QA) reviews to ensure content accuracy, functionality, accessibility, and compliance with publishing standards.

Content Optimization and Metadata Management

  • Maintain metadata, tagging, indexing, and content taxonomy standards across digital platforms.

  • Apply SEO, GEO, and AEO best practices, including page titles, descriptions, alt text, and internal linking.

  • Ensure consistent metadata and content governance practices to improve discovery and user experience.

  • Monitor website performance and engagement metrics and recommend content improvements.

Stakeholder Support and Coordination

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, manage content requests, and resolve publishing issues.

  • Coordinate with technical teams and vendors, escalating development-related issues when necessary.

  • Support the delivery of high-quality digital content that advances the IMF’s communications and outreach objectives.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Communications Department and the wider institution on content and publishing initiatives.

  • Contribute to other divisional and departmental projects as required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have educational development typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree, or equivalent, in communications, international relations, languages, or a related field. Alternatively, a university degree, or equivalent, and six years of relevant professional experience are required. In addition, the candidate should possess:

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise content management systems (CMS) is required, Sitecore XM Cloud, Sitecore XP, Experience Editor, Page Builder, or similar CMS platform is desirable.

  • Experience managing multilingual websites and web publishing workflows.

  • Experience working with component-based design systems and reusable content components.

  • Strong understanding of metadata management, content taxonomy, and SEO best practices.

  • Experience using web analytics tools, such as Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics, to monitor performance and audience engagement.

  • Familiarity with digital publishing tools and graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic web development principles is desirable.

  • Demonstrated project coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices for digital content.

  • Proficiency in an additional language, particularly Russian or Japanese, is an asset.

This is a one-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability, and continuous business need.
