Organizational Context and Scope

​The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing and presenting data collected through DTM and other emergency assessment activities, with a focus on affected populations, mobility, displacement, needs, temporary shelters and operational gaps. The role will contribute to timely evidence-based decision-making by IOM, national authorities, United Nations agencies, humanitarian partners and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring that reports and information products are accurate, coherent and aligned with DTM standards and IOM reporting requirements. 

Responsibilities

  1. ​​Draft, coordinate and quality assure regular analytical reports, situation updates, briefs, dashboards, maps, statistical tables, presentations and other information products related to the Venezuela Earthquake response.
  2. ​Analyse and interpret primary and secondary data from DTM, rapid needs assessments, mobility tracking, registration activities and partner sources, focusing on affected populations, displacement, mobility, temporary shelters, priority needs and service gaps.
  3. ​Support the design, review and harmonization of data collection tools, indicators and reporting templates, ensuring alignment with DTM standards, IOM requirements and relevant inter-agency frameworks.
  4. ​Conduct desk reviews and contextual analysis to complement assessment findings, identify information gaps and support evidence-based planning, advocacy and operational decision-making.
  5. ​Coordinate closely with field teams, data collection teams and relevant technical units to ensure timely data flow, validation of findings and consistent interpretation of results as required.
  6. ​Liaise with national and local authorities, United Nations agencies, humanitarian partners, clusters/sectors and other stakeholders on DTM, reporting and information management matters, and participate in relevant coordination meetings as required.
  7. ​Support the dissemination and adaptation of information management tools and products to meet the needs of IOM, authorities and humanitarian partners.
  8. ​Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues involved in data collection, analysis, visualization and reporting, as required.
  9. ​Perform such other relevant duties as may be assigned.​ 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • ​​Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, Information Management, Data Science, Geography, Communications or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • ​High School diploma with five years of relevant professional experience.​ 

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • ​​Experience in humanitarian information management, assessment, reporting, data analysis or related functions in emergency or crisis response contexts.
  • ​Experience with DTM, rapid needs assessments, mobility tracking, displacement analysis, registration data or other large-scale data collection efforts in development or humanitarian contexts is an advantage.
  • ​Experience liaising with governmental authorities, United Nations agencies, non-governmental organizations, donors and other humanitarian stakeholders in a multicultural setting is an advantage.
  • ​Experience drafting analytical reports, situation reports, briefing notes, dashboards or other information products for operational and external audiences.
  • ​Experience in data visualization and use of statistical, mapping or dashboard tools is an advantage. 

Skills

  • ​Strong analytical, drafting and editing skills, including the ability to translate complex data into clear, concise and actionable findings.
  • ​Knowledge of DTM methodologies, humanitarian assessment approaches, information management standards and data protection principles.
  • ​Ability to produce high-quality reports, visualizations and briefing materials under tight deadlines in emergency settings.
  • ​Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Excel, Power BI, Kobo/ODK, GIS or statistical software is an advantage.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.  

REQUIRED: For this position, fluency in ​Spanish and English​ is required (oral and written).

DESIRABLE: ​​Working knowledge of Portuguese, French or another UN official language is an advantage.​
