Geospatial Analyst
Overview
Analysis and development using geoinformatics for the MoAFW Digital Tools Project.
Duties and responsibilities
Skilled
in Satellite Image Classification using Sentinel SAR & Optical data, Planet
Scope satellite data, etc., along with time series analysisDemonstrated
skills in Machine Learning classification-based pipeline development and
optimizationSound
knowledge of Google Earth Engine-based advanced programming, GEE app
development, Python, and/or R programmingUnderstanding
of advanced geospatial modelling techniques (for suitability analysis,
hydrological modelling, watershed analysis, etc.). Skills in predictive
modeling using satellite data-derived features and field data.Understanding
of geospatial tools developmentSound
knowledge of ground truth data collection and coordination skills with field
staffExcellent
skills in report writing, research paper writing, and short communication writing
Duties and Other Responsibilities
Contribute to stakeholder engagement events
Contribute to decision support tools and dashboard development
Education, knowledge and experience
- A master’s degree or above in remote sensing, geoinformatics, NRM, and spatial data science is required, with proven ability to conduct highly complex analytical tasks.
- Excellent understanding of Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics principles. Knowledge of IT tools will be an added advantage.
- Advanced computer programming skills in Google Earth Engine, JavaScript/Python, and R, along with knowledge of database technologies and data management.
- A fresher with excellent and relevant internship experience or a professional with 1-2 years of relevant experience will be preferred.
- Knowledge/ experience in drone-based data processing and mapping would be an advantage
Terms and conditions
- This is a vacancy for a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position. Landscape Alliance offers competitive remuneration in local currency, commensurate with skills and experience.
- The appointment will be for 1 (one) year with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position, and available resources.
- The duty station will be in New Delhi, India.
