Organizational Context and Scope

​The successful candidate will support data quality assurance, preparation of analytical reports, dashboards, maps and other information products, while coordinating with DTM, programme units, government counterparts and humanitarian partners to ensure that information is accurate, timely and aligned with IOM standards and the objectives of the Temporary Shelters and Infrastructure Technical Working Group.​ 

Responsibilities

  1. ​​​Support the collection, consolidation, validation and management of information related to collective sites, site assessments, displacement trends and CCCM activities.
  2. ​Review, clean and validate datasets received from field teams and partners to ensure data quality, consistency and completeness.
  3. ​Support the preparation and maintenance of master site lists, operational databases and information repositories related to CCCM activities.
  4. ​Produce and update information products including dashboards, factsheets, maps, situation reports, briefing notes, presentations and other analytical materials.
  5. ​Compile and analyse data on site populations, site conditions, priority needs, service availability, population movements and response gaps.
  6. ​Support the preparation of regular operational reports and ad hoc analyses for IOM, government counterparts and humanitarian partners.
  7. ​Assist in developing and updating data collection tools, reporting templates, coding structures and standard operating procedures for CCCM information management activities.
  8. ​Coordinate with DTM, Information Management, GIS and programme teams to ensure consistency and interoperability of datasets and information products, and represent the Information Management team in inter-agency and inter-cluster coordination meetings related to shelter, CCCM and displacement data.
  9. ​Support quality assurance processes by reviewing tables, charts, maps and narrative reports prior to dissemination.
  10. ​Maintain organized records of datasets, reports and supporting documentation in accordance with IOM data protection and information management standards.
  11. ​Represent IOM in technical meetings and coordination fora of the CCCM Technical Working Group and other relevant clusters, actively contributing to discussions, negotiating data-sharing agreements and common information management standards with partners, and following up on agreed actions.
  12. ​Build and maintain effective working relationships with government counterparts, cluster/sector coordinators and humanitarian partners, acting as a focal point for information management matters in the absence of the supervisor.
  13. ​Support the negotiation of common data standards, information-sharing protocols and reporting timelines with technical working groups and inter-agency coordination mechanisms, escalating unresolved issues to the supervisor as needed.
  14. ​Perform such other related duties as may be assigned.​​ 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • ​Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Geography, Information Management, Statistics, International Relations, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience, including experience in coordination or representation roles; or,
  • ​High School diploma with seven years of relevant professional experience.​ 

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • ​Experience in humanitarian information management, data analysis or reporting.
  • ​Experience managing and validating datasets.
  • ​Experience preparing analytical reports and information products.
  • ​Experience using Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
  • ​Experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar visualization tools is desirable.
  • ​Experience with ArcGIS or QGIS is an asset.
  • ​Experience with Kobo Toolbox, ODK or Survey123 is desirable.
  • ​Demonstrated experience in inter-agency coordination, negotiation and representation in humanitarian or development settings, engaging with government counterparts, clusters/sectors and technical working groups.
  • ​Previous experience with DTM, CCCM or humanitarian coordination mechanisms, including representing an organization in cluster/working group meetings, is an advantage.​​

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.  

REQUIRED: For this position, fluency in ​Spanish and English​ is required (oral and written).

DESIRABLE: ​​Working knowledge of Portuguese, French or another UN official language is an advantage.​
