Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is one of the largest IOM missions in the world working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities.  IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter-Trafficking (CT), Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMSI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Policy and Data Hub, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.

IOM Indonesia aims to ensure quality of care for refugees and asylum seekers referred to IOM by the Government of Indonesia according to applicable international humanitarian and human rights standards. The programme supports refugees through healthcare, education, basic needs, as well as to contribute to the increased protection of vulnerable subgroups, such victims of sexual and gender-based violence, among others, through referral mechanisms involving the active participation of specialized state and non-state service providers. It also contributes to supporting them with the eventual sustainable pathways.


Under the direct supervision of Programme Associate (Refugee care) and under overall supervision of Senior Programme Associate (Refugee care) in Medan, the incumbent will implement the educational activities as a part of overall process of the psychosocial assistance activities for- the refugees in Medan area.

1.    Conduct educational activities on a regular basis across designated service areas, as requested by Programme Associate at respective locations.
2.    Identify standard curriculum for different educational activities and adopt them to the capacity of the beneficiaries.
3.    Establish mechanisms to periodically monitor beneficiaries' level of knowledge acquirement on subjects and provide monthly reports to IOM.
4.    Undertake other duties that may be assigned from time to time which are commensurate to the position.
5.    Perform any other duties as may be assigned, including clerical support and duty travel.
 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant subject matter or obtained specific degree in teaching with two years of relevant work experience, preferably in teaching children.
  • Completed High School from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experiences.
     

Experience

  • Having affiliation with education institutions is a clear advantage;
  • Proven capacity and experience in teaching in a classroom setting and/or private tutoring Proven capacity and at least four years of experience in teaching the specific subject;
  • Proven ability and experience in liaising with UN, Government Departments/Authorities and other international organizations;
  • Have solid experience in teaching both children, having experiences in conduct multi-grade teaching is desirable;
     

Skills

  • Maintains confidentiality and discretion in appropriate areas of work;
  • Proven ability and experience in liaising with UN, Government Departments/Authorities and other international organizations.
  • Proven ability to operate computer basic applications: MS Word, MS Excel, Windows
     

Languages

For this consultancy, fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required (oral and written).

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes

IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
