Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Operations and Mission Engagement Solutions, and the direct supervision of the Senior Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Officer (Solutions Delivery Manager), the ICT Associate (Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer) will support the design, development, and integration of AI-enabled applications across the Solutions Technology and Applications Development teams. This role strengthens team capabilities by contributing to enterprise AI solutions, combining backend software engineering with modern AI frameworks and services. The ICT Associate (AI Engineer) will support AI-assisted development, intelligent automation, and integration of AI components with enterprise platforms such as Application Programme Interface’s (APIs), Azure DevOps, data repositories, and document systems, ensuring alignment with functional requirements, quality standards, and operational readiness.
Responsibilities
A. Application Development Support
Develop and maintain AI-enabled application components using C# (NET) and/or Python.
Support implementation of AI solutions using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI services, and related frameworks.
Assist in building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, including document ingestion, embeddings, and search integration.
Contribute to the development of AI agents and automated workflows, including orchestration and tool integration.
Integrate AI components with APIs, databases, and enterprise systems.
B. AI-Assisted Development & Integration
Apply AI tools to support software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, code generation, and documentation.
Support AI-assisted and spec-driven development approaches in Azure DevOps and related platforms.
Contribute to integrating AI capabilities into existing applications and workflows.
Support version control, build, and release management processes using Azure DevOps and Git.
C. Testing, Quality Assurance and Optimization
Support testing of AI-enabled applications, including functional validation and evaluation of AI outputs.
Assist in creating and maintaining automated test scripts for APIs and application components.
Identify defects, inconsistencies, or model-related issues and support resolution.
Contribute to improving reliability, performance, and maintainability of AI-enabled solutions.
D. Operational & Delivery Support
Support deployment pipelines (Azure DevOps), including solution packaging, versioning, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) processes.
Prepare technical notes, diagrams, and knowledgebase documentation.
Assist with troubleshooting, diagnosing issues, and performing routine maintenance across application and AI components.
Monitor system and AI service performance and raise issues proactively.
Perform such other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field with four years of relevant experience; or,
- Completed High school / Secondary school education with six years of relevant experience.
Experience
- Experience supporting application development using NET (C#), Python, or similar technologies;
- Experience integrating applications with APIs, databases, or enterprise platforms; and,
- Experience working in a collaborative team and supporting end-users.
Skills
- Basic proficiency in C# (.NET) or Python programming;
- Basic understanding of RAG architectures, AI agents, or conversational AI systems;
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle practices and DevOps environments;
- Exposure to AI/ Machine Learning (ML) applications or AI services (e.g., Azure OpenAI or similar platforms);
- Familiarity with AI frameworks, orchestration tools, or libraries (e.g., Semantic Kernel, LangChain, or similar);
- Understanding of APIs, data processing, and system integration;
- Ability to work with structured and unstructured data in AI use cases;
- Hands-on troubleshooting skills across application, data, and integration layers; and,
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Languages
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
