Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a qualified Supply Chain Assistant for our operations in Humera, Ethiopia.

Overall purpose of the role

This role has a country focus and ensures compliance with DRC procedures and guidelines within the AO. The role translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to SC activities in the field. 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Support and administration

  • Ensuring all the procurement processes are in line with DRC Operations Handbook
  • Effective and efficient support to programs’ needs.
  • Develop and maintain relevant data base. 
  • Maintaining the procurement follow up process
  • Weekly and monthly status reports 
  • Warehouse management, including reporting and alert mechanism to program staff. 
  • Assist in recruitment, training, and capacity building of the logistics team
  • Coordination of programme staff to ensure logistics involvement in the whole programme cycle
  • Procurement of all goods and services
  • Establish and follow up annual procurement plans
  • Track all orders, purchases and deliveries
  • Ensure that all logistics specific donor rules and policies are understood and respected
  • Oversight of all purchase and service contract to ensure DRC's interests are protected
  • Optimize all logistics operations to increase cost effectiveness including setting up longer term supply contracts
  • Ensure DRC supplier due diligence is effective in the relevant context
  • Correctly apply ERP supply chain processes"
  • Ensure compliance and implementation of Operations Handbook
  • Provide monthly comprehensive country reports on procurement to SMM
  • Implement any available tools to improve procurement management
  • To facilitate in taking the lead in implanting more framework agreements as much as possible
  • Ensuring all the Fleet and Asset management processes are in line with DRC Operations Handbook
  • Effective and efficient support to programs’ needs.
  • Develop and maintain relevant data base.
  • Establish quality transport and service for the organization.
  • Ensure the correct and timely routine maintenance and repair of DRC vehicles and generators.
  • Ensure that all vehicles carry the required on-board documentation and that all documents are kept current (including insurance).

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in humanitarian logistics management within the field of supply chain management, fleet management, asset management, and distribution support
  • Knowledge and experience of dealing with service providers and contractors’ management.
  • High integrity, pro-active, stable, robust character and a good team-player
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Experience in working in NGOs
  • Proven commitment to accountability practices.
  • Knowledge of computers: word processing, database management packages.

EDUCATION: (include certificates, licenses, etc.)

  • BA BM, Supplies Management or other relevant business fields.

LANGUAGE: (indicate Fluency level)

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
