WBG Pioneer The International Finance Corporation (IFC)
is the private sector arm of the World Bank Group and the largest global
development institution focused exclusively on the private sector in emerging
markets and developing economies. IFC operates in more than 100 countries and
works with businesses, financial institutions, investors, and governments to
create jobs and IFC's work focuses on creating and
expanding markets, supporting private sector growth, and generating sustainable
employment opportunities across key sectors including infrastructure,
agribusiness, manufacturing, health, and tourism. Through investment,
innovation, partnerships, and blended finance, IFC seeks to accelerate
development impact while supporting job creation and economic resilience. The Partnerships & Blended Finance
(CBF) Department plays a critical role in advancing IFC's strategic objectives
by mobilizing concessional catalytic capital and donor resources, managing
relationships with bilateral and multilateral development partners,
foundations, philanthropies, and other strategic stakeholders, and deploying
blended finance solutions that help de-risk investments and attract private
capital into high-impact projects. The department supports IFC's efforts to
expand investment opportunities in frontier and emerging markets, particularly
in areas where commercial financing alone is insufficient to address market
barriers or perceived risk. Duties and Responsibilities The Graduate Intern will work directly with
the Director, Partnerships & Blended Finance and her small Front Office
team, supporting strategic initiatives at the intersection of private capital
mobilization, donor engagement, blended finance, and international development. This internship provides an opportunity to
contribute to a dynamic and globally engaged department at the center of IFC's
2030 agenda, while gaining exposure to senior management, international
development finance, and World Bank Group operations. Strategic Analysis and Research •Conduct analytical research on concessional capital and related emerging development trends. Executive Support •Support the Director in preparing for senior management meetings, donor engagements, Board-related discussions, conferences, and external events. Communications and Knowledge Management •Support the development of internal and external communications materials highlighting departmental priorities, achievements, and development impact. Data and Business Analytics •Support analytical work related to concessional funding mechanisms, and innovative financing solutions. Special Projects •Participate in intra-departmental initiatives, including those that advance innovation, and operational effectiveness. Selection Criteria • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a postgraduate (master’s/PhD) program. • Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to synthesize complex issues. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into concise executive-level products. • Demonstrated interest in development finance, private sector development, and the World Bank Group’s mission. • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, attention to detail. • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. • IT-savvy. Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Working knowledge of one or more Large Language Models (LLMs) e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, etc., is an advantage. • Strong initiative and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Experience with data analysis, visualization, and/or strategic communications is an advantage.
