1. Objective of the Assignment

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) seeks a Short-Term Consultant (STC) to support the development of the Global Solar Trends Report, a flagship publication providing a comprehensive assessment of emerging trends across the global solar sector. The consultant will undertake technical research, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and content development to produce evidence-based insights on solar technologies, markets, manufacturing, innovation, investment, policies, and future outlooks. The report is expected to serve as a strategic reference for policymakers, industry, investors, researchers, and ISA Member Countries. The consultant will report to the Technology Roadmap and Policy (TRP) Unit and work closely with ISA technical experts, external partners, and contributing authors throughout the assignment.

2. Scope of Work (including but not limited to)

·       Conduct research on global solar technology, markets, manufacturing, investments, policies, supply chains, and emerging trends.

·       Collect, manage, validate, and analyse relevant datasets from international organizations, industry sources, and publicly available databases to generate evidence-based insights.

·       Develop technical analyses, benchmarking studies, forecasts, case studies, and data visualizations to support the report's findings.

·       Draft and review technical chapters, policy insights, executive summaries, and supporting content, ensuring technical accuracy, consistency, and appropriate referencing.

·       Coordinate with technical experts, industry stakeholders, and partner organizations to gather inputs, validate findings, and incorporate feedback.

·       Articulate some specific sections of the report viz. energy storage, scheduling & forecasting, grid integration, repowering etc.

·       Supporting the selected consulting firm on data collection from appropriate references, collection of plant performance data and statistics

·       Maintain a repository of datasets, references, and supporting materials, and prepare presentations, briefing notes, and other knowledge products to support dissemination of the report.

3. Duration of Assignment

100 days in 5 months, with the possibility of extension subject to performance and programme needs.

4. Profile and Qualifications

Experience

·       Minimum 10 years of professional experience in renewable energy research, energy policy, market analysis, or technology assessment.

·       Demonstrated experience authoring or contributing to technical reports or flagship publications.

·       Experience analysing global energy markets and renewable energy policies.

·       Experience working with international organizations or multilateral institutions is desirable.

Skills

·       Excellent analytical and research skills.

·       Strong technical writing and report drafting abilities.

·       Experience handling large datasets and preparing charts and visualizations.

·       Familiarity with global renewable energy databases and statistical sources.

·       Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.

·       Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

Languages

  • Excellent written and spoken English required.

5. Education

·       Master's degree or higher in Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Environmental Sciences, Public Policy, Economics, or a related discipline.
