The Strategic Planning Unit (SPU), part of the Strategy, Planning, Results and Effectiveness Division (SPRED), supports the organization in delivering high-impact, data-driven results. SPU leads strategic planning, monitoring, annual reporting, results-based management and strategic foresight across UN Women. The team also drives the use of data, digital technologies, artificial intelligence and knowledge management solutions to strengthen decision-making, accountability and communication of results.

SPU is seeking a Data, Results and Strategic Foresight Intern to support corporate reporting, data analysis, digital platforms, strategic foresight and results communication initiatives across the organization.

Description of Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Data Analysis and Monitoring Specialist, the intern will support SPU in the following areas:

  1. Annual Reporting, Results Communication and Systems Support
    •    Support annual reporting processes, including communication, capacity-building activities and user support to country and regional offices.
    •    Assist in updating annual reporting guidance, FAQs, templates and reference materials to support a simplified reporting process.
    •    Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and feedback documentation for the annual reporting module within the new system PRISM.
    •    Assist in maintaining and validating corporate reporting datasets, including the global results database and Learning and Strategy Dashboard.
    •    Support the synthesis and communication of key results and performance insights from annual reports and other corporate reporting products.
    •    Contribute to innovative and AI-enabled approaches to strengthen reporting.
  2. Transparency Portal
    •    Support the maintenance and continuous enhancement of the UN Women Transparency Portal, including the finalization of Phase IV development activities.
    •    Assist with updating annual reporting content through the Content Management System (CMS) and data uploads using CSV files.
    •    Support quality assurance, testing and documentation of new portal features.
    •    Contribute to presentations, guidance materials, training resources and communication products related to the Transparency Portal.
  3. Strategic Foresight
    •    Support strategic foresight initiatives, including socialization sessions, learning events, webinars, and knowledge-sharing activities.
    •    Contribute to the preparation of external-facing foresight materials and communications.
    •    Assist in maintaining foresight-related intranet resources and communication products.

Qualifications

Education:

  • University studies in one of the following disciplines: data science, statistics, international development, data communications, foresight or a related field.
  • Meet one of the following: 
  1. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); 
  2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); 
  3. Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; or 
  4. Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements. 

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required; 
  • Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.

Renumeration: 

Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
