Job Description
Project Context and Scope
The Government of Bangladesh has adopted the National Action Plan (NAP) for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) as a guiding framework to strengthen migration governance, enhance the protection and well-being of migrants, and promote safe, orderly and regular migration. The NAP provides a comprehensive framework for translating the objectives and commitments of the GCM into nationally relevant actions and interventions.
To ensure effective and practical operationalization of the NAP, it is important to identify priority areas, actions and implementation considerations that reflect the needs and realities of migrants and migration-affected communities at the local level. This requires an inclusive and participatory consultation process involving relevant government institutions, local authorities, civil society organizations, migrant communities, aspirant and returnee migrants, families of migrants, private sector representatives, development partners and other relevant stakeholders.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is supporting the Government of Bangladesh in this process through the project “Strengthened Service Delivery Systems for Improved Migration Management and Sustainable Reintegration,” implemented by IOM and funded by the European Union (EU).
Under this initiative, IOM will facilitate a series of structured, multi-stakeholder consultations at the divisional level in three selected divisions of Bangladesh and one national-level consultation to support prioritization and development of an operational guideline. The consultations will provide a platform to:
Identify priority areas and actions for operationalizing the GCM NAP at sub-national and national levels;
Assess the relevance and feasibility of proposed NAP interventions in local contexts;
Generate practical recommendations for translating the NAP into implementable actions; and
Support development of an operational guideline for GCM NAP
