Senior Research Technician
ICRISAT seeks applications from dynamic and motivated Indian nationals for the post of Senior Research Technician. The incumbent will be responsible for overall work on Project Management Unit (PMU) and coordinating activities under the overall supervision of CROPS4HD/CFI/HAI Grant Manager and Technical Advisor and in coordination with other Alliance staff based in India office or elsewhere. This is a nationally recruited position for The Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), New Delhi.

ICRISAT conducts research on its mandate crops of chickpea, pigeonpea, groundnut, sorghum, pearl millet and finger millet in the arid and semi-arid tropics. The Institute focuses its work on the drylands and on protecting the environment. Tropical dryland areas are usually seen as resource-poor and perennially beset by shocks such as drought, thereby trapping dryland communities in poverty and hunger and making them dependent on external aid. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate all logistic arrangements and successful organization of Annual conference/National Conference in consultation with the Executive Committee (EC) and with inputs from the Advisory Board (AB) and the Scientific Committee (SC).
- Prepare and disseminate conference announcements through various platforms to attract a wider audience.
- Organize project-related consultation workshops, inviting a range of stakeholders to discuss.
- Organize EC, AB and SC meetings, as necessary, to discuss and identify key research themes for annual conference and research grants.
- Assist in project-related procurement, travel reports, expenses, and general tasks.
- Overall responsible for project budget management and timely submission of technical and financial reports and preparation of draft LoAs.
- Assist in any other tasks related to the successful implementation of all projects and related work as directed by the Country Representative.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in an international working environment.
- Good computer skills, especially with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, and internet-based communications.
- Good command of the English language, both written and spoken is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, communications and teamwork skills; courtesy, tact and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different cultural and national backgrounds.
- Well-developed skills in personal organization, priority setting, problem solving, accuracy, high attention to detail.
- Ability to work with significant independence within assigned areas.
- Dynamic and self-motivated character, willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.
General:
This is a contractual role for a period of 12 months (01 year), renewable based on the performance of the incumbent and the institute’s continuing need for the position.
