Role Summary

The role supports Medair’s International Country Programmes (ICPs) and ACCORD partners by developing tools, training, technical guidance, coordination, and external networks, as well as providing technical support to G-ERT WASH responses. It also contributes to strategic direction in WASH and works closely with the Head of G-ERT and relevant GSO stakeholders to ensure alignment, collaboration, and high-quality WASH programming.

Project Overview  

Based in the GSO WASH team, the Senior WASH Advisor provides strategic and technical leadership for Medair’s WASH programming. The role supports engagement in the RISE Consortium and delivery of the 2025–2029 Strategy, particularly in Emergency Preparedness and Response.

Workplace & Conditions

Global Support Office (GSO) position based in Lausanne, Switzerland, Swiss or eligible EU citizens, or those with a valid work permit for Switzerland. Remote work is possible, conditions apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, review, and monitoring of WASH strategies and contribute to WASH-related organizational policies.
  • Provide technical guidance and quality assurance throughout the project cycle, including assessments, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, proposal review, and field support.
  • Build and maintain strong collaboration and knowledge-sharing with country programme teams, advisors, and focal points.
  • Promote technical excellence by staying informed of WASH best practices, ensuring effective data management, and supporting continuous improvement of programming.
  • Strengthen staff capacity through the development and delivery of training, workshops, learning resources, and technical coaching.
  • Represent and strengthen Medair’s WASH profile through networking, partnerships, institutional fundraising support, technical publications, and engagement in sector forums and conferences.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies:  

• BSc in Water / Environmental Engineering or Management or Civil Engineering or Hydrology / Geology

• At least 10 years’ experience managing WASH programmes in developing countries, with at least 5 years’ experience managing and coordinating acute and chronic complex emergency responses

• Excellent IT knowledge, especially Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Teams, Sharepoint.

• Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels, self-motivated, proactive
