1. Your New Organization
The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an intergovernmental organization of 125 Member Countries working to accelerate the deployment of solar energy to achieve universal energy access, energy security, and a sustainable, low-carbon future. Co-founded by India and France under the Paris Agreement, ISA catalyzes cooperation among solar-rich nations to mobilize investments, build capacity, and promote innovation in solar energy deployment across the Global South.
ISA’s mission is to unlock solar investments by 2030 while reducing technology and financing costs. Through initiatives across agriculture, health, transport, buildings, and power systems, ISA Member Countries are shaping solar markets by setting standards, designing policies, sharing best practices, and mobilizing investments.
2. Your New Role
The Technology Specialist (NOC) will support ISA's Technology Roadmap & Policy Unit in delivering evidence-based technical and policy solutions that accelerate the adoption of solar and allied clean energy technologies across ISA Member Countries.
The role will lead analytical & research work on technology intelligence, techno-economic modelling, technology roadmapping, and policy analysis to support national planning, investment decisions, and market development. Working closely with governments, industry, research institutions, and development partners, the incumbent will contribute to ISA's flagship knowledge products, technology pathways, standards, and policy guidance while strengthening Member Countries' capacity to deploy emerging solar technologies.
3. Your Broader Scope of Work (including but not limited to)
• Conduct technology intelligence and foresight assessments across solar PV, battery energy storage system (BESS), Integrated PV (Agri-PV, Floating PV, BIPV and VIPV), solar thermal, digital energy infrastructure systems, green hydrogen, and other emerging clean energy technologies.
• Develop technology roadmaps, deployment pathways, and transition scenarios, including technology readiness assessments, decarbonisation pathways, and long-term technology planning for Member Countries.
• Lead techno-economic assessments including LCOE analysis, forecasting & developing scenarios, system cost benchmarking, techno-economic feasibility studies, sensitivity analysis, develop financial models from investment perspective, and comparative evaluation of technology/ applications options.
• Assess the techno-economic, and regulatory & policy implications of emerging technologies to support evidence-based decision-making and investment planning in the power markets of member countries.
• Support to develop policies, regulations and model documents (like PPAs etc.) for emerging energy markets.
• Technical support to explore developing or customizing standards, MFS & codes for solar linked technologies and systems to ensure the quality of the end product/project.
• Analyse global and regional supply chains, identifying risks, dependencies, and diversification opportunities across solar value chain- PV modules, components, storage systems, balance-of-system parts, and other associated clean energy technologies. Impact assessment of technical aspects on financial and economic feasibility on overall systems.
• Develop technical briefs, policy notes, technology outlooks, and flagship knowledge products that strengthen technology planning and market development across ISA Member Countries.
• Engage with governments, private sector stakeholders, R&D institutions, and international partners to incorporate technology insights into policy and programmatic initiatives.
• Support to Member Countries: Provide targeted technical assistance (technology deployment strategies, investment plans, feasibility studies, and policy intervention) across emerging technologies—including solar PV, storage, solar thermal systems, and circularity/waste management approaches—alongside strong stakeholder engagement and coordination support.
• Contribute to concept notes, project proposals, technical assistance programmes, and strategic partnerships supporting the Technology Roadmap & Policy Unit.
• Support internal planning, reporting, and monitoring within the Technology Roadmap & Policy Unit, including preparation of work plans, progress reports, and analytical updates.
• Participate in technical missions, consultations, and workshops and international forums, representing ISA’s technical and policy perspectives and supporting Member Country engagement processes.
4. What You Will Need to Succeed
Education
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy, Technology Policy, Power Systems, Environmental Engineering, Energy Economics or a related field.
· Minimum 12 years of relevant technical experience. For candidates with a relevant Doctorate degree, the experience requirement shall be relaxed by two (2) years.
Required Experience
· Excellent understanding of solar and allied technologies, including emerging technology trends, market dynamics, deployment pathways, and circular economy approaches.
· Exposure of the power markets of India and ISA member countries.
· Demonstrated experience in technology assessment, benchmarking, technology planning/roadmapping, techno-economic analysis, policy analysis, or supply chain studies, including solar PV, storage, Integrated PV, green hydrogen, etc.
· Hands-on experience conducting techno-economic assessments, in-depth financial modelling, techno-economic due diligence of solar projects, developing development scenario modelling, feasibility assessments, or system-level economic comparisons for renewable energy technologies.
· Core technical experience in the solar energy sector, preferably with a project developer, EPC company, utility, or lending/financial institution, including exposure to project development, due diligence, risk assessment, techno-economic assessment, investment appraisal, or project financing, would be highly valuable.
· Experience working with intergovernmental organisations, multilateral institutions, government agencies, research organisations, utilities, developers, or technical advisory organisations on clean energy or energy transition initiatives.
· Experience analysing technology supply chains, manufacturing ecosystems, industrial development strategies, standards and quality frameworks, or circularity and solar PV and battery waste management systems is desirable.
· Experience preparing technology roadmaps, policy briefs, technical reports, investment analyses, and strategic knowledge products to support government decision-making and market development.
· Demonstrated experience coordinating with government agencies, research institutions, private sector entities, financial institutions, and expert groups, including facilitating multi-stakeholder consultations and technical working groups.
5. Languages and Skills
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and techno-economic modelling capabilities.
• Ability to interpret complex technical and financial information and translate it into practical policy and investment recommendations.
• Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Strong understanding of technology roadmapping, market development, supply chains, and clean energy policy.
• Proven ability to manage multiple analytical workstreams while working independently and collaboratively in multicultural teams.
• Equipped with a collaborative and high-performance skillset, including team co-creation, effective multitasking, and the ability to work independently with initiative and minimal supervision.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in another ISA Member Country language is a valuable asset that strengthens collaboration across regions.
6. Your Place of Work
This position will be based at the ISA Headquarters, Delhi/Gurgaon, India, with international travel as required.

ISA offers a competitive remuneration package based on the UN Common System, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, pension contributions, and leave entitlements as per ISA Staff Regulations and Rules.
