Position Title: Event Support Volunteer  
Location: Berlin and remote 
Reports to: Global Head of WomenX Collective 
Duration: August 2026 - October 2026 (3 months), part-time

Candidates who are not nationals of the country where they will volunteer must have appropriate residence or immigration status in the country of assignment. In the case of a volunteer assignment outside the volunteer’s country of residence, the volunteer will be responsible for making their own visa and travel arrangements.

UNFPA’s WomenX Collective programme is part of the Innovation and Transformation Branch (ITB) at the UNFPA Headquarters branch that shapes and executes strategic initiatives through cultivating innovation and organizational change. Located in the Office of the Executive Director, ITB helps to ensure UNFPA is future-fit through fostering a dynamic environment where innovation and transformative ideas thrive. The WomenX Collective aims to accelerate scale-ready innovation through new forms of financing and collaboration leveraging the innovation ecosystem around its hubs in Berlin and Nairobi.  

Purpose of the Role

Leveraging the high-level event, the World Health Summit Support Volunteer will support the WomenX in boosting the visibility of UNFPA’s in maternal health, reproductive health and female cancers work and drive its reputation as an innovative UN agency, inspiring organizations and companies to partner with UNFPA. The Volunteer will be crucial in supporting the logistical and programmatic preparation of the high-level event demonstrating innovative and impactful approaches to the work of UNFPA. The incumbent will work with the WomenX teams, ITB colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.

Scope of Work

The volunteer will provide essential support for the event preparation in managing tasks, coordinating activities, drafting and editing of materials, and meeting coordination. The assignment will include assisting in the creation of programme parts, assets for various audiences and supporting the presence of UNFPA. Based on the volunteer’s specific skills, the assignment includes supporting the 1 design and development of special programme components, or other concepts and initiatives. Responsibilities and deliverables include:

● Monitor and track implementation progress on behalf of the Global Head of WomenX

● Develop materials related to events and milestones, such as briefing notes, concept notes, website updates, online articles, social media posts, in alignment with the communications strategy and the event objectives.

● Assisting in the development of the event production and supporting elements such as inputs for reports, briefing documents, and presentation materials for partners and stakeholders.

● Coordinating with the WomenX hubs, ITB, and BRO teams to ensure alignment under team supervision.

● Providing logistical and participant coordination support for meetings and events organized by and for the Global Head of WomenX.

● Contributing to the creation of programme elements to help advocate for UNFPA's innovative work beyond the high-level event.

● Contributing to the creative planning of initiatives and materials that enhance partner engagement

● Providing general assistance and advocacy support to the teams as requested.

Education

● Master’s degree in related area is required.

Knowledge and Experience:

● Experience in project management, communications and/or administration is required.

● Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

● Ability to organize work independently with minimum supervision.

● Ability to work effectively under pressure, collaborate with colleagues, and produce high-quality work.

● Excellent communication and writing skills.

● Experience in related programmatic areas.

Language Requirements:

● Fluency in English is required.

● Knowledge of an additional United Nations language is an asset.

Financial Aspects
UNFPA Volunteers do not receive a salary or any other form of remuneration from UNFPA. The costs associated with a UNFPA Volunteer's participation in the programme must be assumed by the UNFPA Volunteer themselves, who will have to meet living expenses as well as make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and other requirements.

In addition, applicants must have medical insurance for the duration of the volunteer assignment. Proof of adequate medical insurance, a medical certificate of good health, proof of any required vaccinations for the duty station will need to be submitted before the volunteer assignment begins. UNFPA does not provide medical insurance for UNFPA volunteers.
