VPU Context:
WBG Budget and Procurement supports the World Bank Group’s strategic priorities by providing budget, planning, procurement, systems, reporting, analytics, and shared services across the institution. The WBG Centers of Excellence department brings together core budget functions to build a more integrated, data-driven, and client-focused budget function. The department supports One WBG integration, budget reforms, modernized systems, automation, and stronger decision support for senior management and client teams.
Unit Context:
The Budget Solutions unit leads WBG-wide budget systems, data, reporting, knowledge, and technology-enabled solutions. The unit supports the Integrated Planning Solution, ERP transition, budget reporting, analytics, automation, and client-facing digital products. The Systems, Data and Reporting team will help strengthen data governance, reporting quality, self-service analytics, process automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve decision-making and service delivery across WBP and its clients.
Duties and accountabilities
• Support business stakeholders and technical teams in identifying data needs, reporting gaps, and opportunities to improve budget analytics and client service delivery.
• Extract, clean, validate, and organize structured and unstructured datasets from relevant WBP systems and data sources, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis and prepare clear summaries, visualizations, dashboards, and recurring reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or R.
• Contribute to the development, testing, and documentation of predictive models, reporting tools, mobile applications, and AI-enabled solutions under the direction of senior colleagues.
• Maintain and update standard reports, dashboards, datasets, and model outputs, escalating data quality issues and supporting routine validation and troubleshooting.
• Assist with user testing, documentation, and knowledge sharing to help business users interpret reports and apply data insights in day-to-day decision-making.
Selection Criteria
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information systems, data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, finance, business analytics, or a related field, with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Working proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language such as Python or R, with practical experience preparing datasets and supporting analytical or reporting products.
• Good understanding of statistical analysis, data modeling, data visualization, and dashboard development, with ability to apply these skills to defined business questions.
• Experience using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms to prepare clear reports, dashboards, and visual summaries for business users.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to data quality, documentation, testing, and timely delivery of recurring analytical products.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences and work collaboratively with business and technical teams.
• Experience in financial planning, reporting, budget analytics, performance management, or large/complex organizations would be an advantage.
