BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Assisting more than 115.5 million people in 120 + countries each year, the World Food Program (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies, and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Food and food-related assistance lie at the heart of the struggle to break the cycle of hunger and poverty.
WFP Technology Division (TEC) is the digital business engine of the World Food Programme, providing the business with multi-pronged and resilient technical capabilities able to respond with the agility required in humanitarian operations. Technology and connectivity are rapidly reaching some of the most vulnerable people and places affected by crisis, but they are also increasingly expanding to the services responding to those same crises. As one of the main humanitarian actors, WFP has the opportunity and the obligation to leverage data and technology to better know and serve those in need by digitally transforming the way it works.
Based in WFP’s MENAEERO Regional Office in Cairo, the job holder will support business teams in improving productivity through process automation and technical assistance for IT solution development, testing, implementation, maintenance and user training. The role will also support the design, adoption and sustainability of low-code/no-code solutions using Microsoft 365 and Power Platform, contributing to automation, Digital Do-It-Yourself initiatives, user support and training across the Regional Bureau and Country Offices.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the development, maintenance and enhancement of solutions using Microsoft 365 and Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Forms and Power BI.
- Engage with business units and Country Offices to identify opportunities for process improvement, digitization and automation, and translate business requirements into practical digital solutions.
- Assist in solution design, configuration, testing, troubleshooting and user acceptance activities to ensure developed solutions are reliable, fit-for-purpose and aligned with WFP standards.
- Maintain technical documentation, user guides, FAQs, solution registers and knowledge articles to support sustainability and handover of developed solutions.
- Prepare and deliver user training, coaching and awareness sessions to strengthen effective use of Microsoft 365 and Power Platform tools.
- Provide user support and issue triage for MS Power Platform solutions and Microsoft-based digital tools, escalating complex issues where required.
- Support development of dashboards, reports and analytical products to monitor business processes, solution adoption and operational performance.
- Other tasks as required.
OTHER POST REQUIREMENTS
Required
- Experience using Microsoft 365 tools, including SharePoint Online, Teams, Forms, Excel and related collaboration services.
- Experience developing or supporting low-code/no-code solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI.
- Experience using Cloud platforms such as, AWS, Azure, Google cloud.
- Experience using DB management systems Such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience delivering user support, training, documentation and knowledge-sharing materials for digital tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, customer-service and communication skills, with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong Knowledge of API development and system integration.
Desirable
- Experience with Dataverse, Power Pages, Power Platform administration or solution lifecycle management.
- Experience supporting digital transformation, change management, adoption monitoring or technology enablement initiatives.
- Experience developing dashboards, adoption reports and performance monitoring products using BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Copilot Studio and experience creating Copilot agents, virtual assistants or AI-enabled workflows is a plus.
- Understanding of Generative AI use cases, prompt design and responsible AI principles is an asset.
- Microsoft Power Platform, Microsoft 365 or Copilot-related certifications are an asset.
- Familiarity with Agile ways of working and basic project coordination practices.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Education: University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or another relevant field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in information technology, digital solutions, business applications, process automation or related areas.
- Experience designing, developing and supporting low-code/no-code business solutions using Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Power Platform is required.
- Experience with SharePoint Online, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI and Microsoft Forms is required.
- Experience supporting implementation and adoption of business applications across multiple stakeholders or user groups.
- Experience providing user support, troubleshooting, training and clear documentation for digital tools.
- Experience with Copilot Studio, AI-enabled business automation, virtual assistants or Copilot agents is a strong asset.
- Strong communication skills and ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Skills and Competencies:
Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel.
Self-motivated, ability to work on MVPs in an agile environment; ability to work with tight deadlines.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different (Arabic and English).
