Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Consolidated Accounting Unit Supervisor and in close collaboration with the Finance Accounting Division at Headquarters, the Financial Reporting Specialist is responsible for performing financial reporting, analysis, centralized financial reporting activities, and reconciliation functions in support of the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with IPSAS and organizational policies.
Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting
- Prepare assigned financial statement schedules, note disclosures, appendices, and supporting working papers for quarterly and annual financial reports in accordance with IPSAS and organizational reporting requirements.
- Prepare Quarterly and Annual Financial Reports (QFR/AFRs), management reports, and other financial analyses.
- Perform reconciliation and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution of reporting issues.
- Compile financial information required for internal and external reporting, including responses to audit requests.
- Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of assigned reports and supporting documentation.
2. Central Financial Reporting Activities
- Perform centralized financial reporting activities to support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Prepare reporting related calculations, adjustments and other IPSAS and financial reporting adjustments.
- Monitor assigned financial reporting areas to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and consistency of financial information.
- Ensure compliance with IPSAS, organizational policies, internal controls, and established reporting timelines.
3. Others
- Contribute to the continuous improvement, standardization, and automation of financial reporting processes.
- Participate in business requirement gathering, ERP enhancement initiatives, system testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and other process documentation.
- Respond to inquiries received through shared mailboxes, ticketing systems, and other communication channels.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- University degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field from an accredited academic institution.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent is an advantage
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of accounting and finance.
- Experience preparing financial statements.
- Experience performing financial analysis, reconciliations.
- Experience with ERP financial systems (Oracle or similar).
- Experience in an international organization or multinational environment is an advantage
SKILLS
- Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards or International Financial Reporting Standards
- Sound knowledge of accounting systems
- Computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office applications.
