We are hiring a COORDINATOR, EVENTS AND COMMUNICATIONS
The position
Position:Full time
Location: Bonn or Remote (global), available 9:00–18:00 CET
Salary: Salary commensurate with qualification and experience
Start date: As soon as possible
Reports to: Executive Director Travel: Approximately 4 trips per year, including BIOFACH Nuremberg and the Organic World Congress.
Why this role exists
Events are how IFOAM – Organics International convenes its sector, engages its members and creates political openings — and they need to contribute to our income.
This role runs our flagship events and builds new formats that do both. It is designed to grow as the events portfolio grows.
Profile Experience: 2–3 years in events management, ideally in a membership, trade fair or international civil society context. Exposure to sponsorship, partnership or income generation an advantage.
Education: At least Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Duties and key responsibilities Events Conception and Management (main focus)
• Coordinate delivery of the Organic World Congress, including the Steering and Operations Committees.
Develop new event formats — including webinars and sector convenings — with a clear income and engagement rationale.
• Build and sell sponsorship, partnership and promotion packages across our events; own event budgets and track income against targets.
• Design event concepts and programmes that create openings for our policy priorities, working with the Political Campaigner, who provides substance and messaging.
• Coordinate our presence at BIOFACH and other trade fairs and conferences.
Membership and sector engagement
• Use events to deliver visible value to members and to support recruitment and retention.
• Maintain contact and engagement data in Salesforce as a working tool for outreach, not only as a record. Communications
• Produce the annual report and monthly newsletter.
• Manage our channels (website, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube) and keep brand use consistent across the organisation.
• Deliver communications obligations arising from donor, partner and consultancy agreements.
Note: routine content production and channel management are expected to transfer to a communications assistant as resources allow, so the postholder can concentrate on events, income and engagement.
Success in year one:
o OWC delivered and its commercial performance improved on the previous edition. o At least one new event formats piloted, with income and engagement results measured.
o A working sponsor and partner pipeline in place.
