Mission and objectives
Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. IOM is part of the United Nations system, as a related organization.
IOM supports migrants across the world, developing effective responses to the shifting dynamics of migration and, as such, is a key source of advice on migration policy and practice. The organization works in emergency situations, developing the resilience of all people on the move, and particularly those in situations of vulnerability, as well as building capacity within governments to manage all forms and impacts of mobility.

Context
The regional project Phase I “Labour Migration Programme – Central Asia funded by SDC aims to contribute to enhancing labour migration governance to better respond to employer and labour market needs while ensuring protection of migrant workers and enhancing development impacts in both countries of origin and destination.
The Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM) Regional Evidence for Migration Analysis and Policy (REMAP) project was developed in response to the critical need to collect and analyse information on (protracted) displacement and human mobility in, to and from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and to contribute to evidence-based humanitarian and development programming in these countries and in the region.
The Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM) Regional Evidence for Migration Analysis and Policy (REMAP) project was developed in response to the critical need to collect and analyse information on (protracted) displacement and human mobility in, to and from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and to contribute to evidence-based humanitarian and development programming in these countries and in the region.
Task description
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of [MTM Project Assistant] or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:
1. Conduct village-level Baseline Mobility Assessments through structured interviews with key informants (community leaders, local authorities, etc.), and conduct individual survey with international migrant worker in the region.
2. Ensure accurate and thorough data collection, adhering to the project's objectives and requirements.
3. Coordinate with field supervisors and team leaders to plan the daily schedule and target areas for data collection.
4. Ensure all necessary equipment (tablets, phones, paper forms, etc.) and resources are prepared before the field visit
5. Establish good relationships with key informants, ensuring respectful and professional interaction.
6. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the collected data.
7. Validate information by cross-checking with multiple sources when required.
8. Keep detailed records of daily activities and completed interviews.
9. Submit completed assessment forms into KOBO and ensure that data is correctly uploaded or delivered to the data management team.
10. Assist in documenting challenges or issues encountered in the field.
11. Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards during data collection.
12. Respect the privacy and rights of the individuals being surveyed, ensuring informed consent.
13. Travel to designated villages and rural areas, sometimes under challenging conditions, to conduct assessments.
