This position is located within the Common Administrative Platform at United Nations Headquarters, referred to as the One Executive Office ("one EO"), under the Division of Administration in the Department of Operational Support (DOS). One EO has started its transition phase on 1 January 2026 as part of the UN80 reform initiative, which aims to consolidate common administrative functions across Secretariat entities into unified service platforms. One EO provides the full range of administrative and operational services required by New York–based Secretariat client entities to fulfill their mandates, including human resources management, financial administration, travel, and general administrative support. Specifically, this position is located at the desk providing administrative and operational support to CTED, DPO, DPPA, OCT, ODA and selected Special Political Missions. The incumbent will report to the Finance Team Lead.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Associate Administrative Officer will be responsible for the following duties: HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT: • Acts as focal point for post management for client entities under the Desk’s responsibilities. • Provides information on unit’s staffing needs for inclusion in department’s staffing table. BUDGET AND FINANCE: • Supports the Team Lead in managing financial resources in DPO including analyzing cash positions and preparing financial performance reports and cash reports to facilitate decision-making. • Assists in developing the Unit's work program and budget; analyses inputs and formulates resource allocations by work program, or business processes. • Monitors budget/work program with respect to the Unit' budget, on a regular basis, and reallocates resources as necessary. • Supports the implementation of procedures and systems for implementing the appropriate financial database. • Contributes to the development of budgetary guidelines for own unit. GENERAL ADMINISTRATION: • Supervises support staff as required. • Performs other related administrative duties, as required (e.g., operational travel programme, monitoring accounts and payment to vendors and individual contractors for services, coordination activities related to the Statement of Internal Control, assistance in coordination with oversight bodies, physical space planning and the identification of office technology needs and maintenance of equipment, software, and systems). • Collects and analyses data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting; develops data models and analytical dashboards through data visualization tools.

Education

A first-level university degree in business or public administration, finance, or related field. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage. Passing the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P) is desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in administration, finance, accounting, or related area. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics and in building data models is required. Experience in developing data models and analytical dashboards through data visualization tools is required. Passing the United Nations Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P) is desirable. Experience in interpreting and managing master data across funds, grants, IPMR project structures is desirable. Experience in Microsoft Power Query Editor and Power BI is desirable. Experience with Advanced Excel is desirable. Experience with PowerPoint is desirable.
