The Surging Women’s Employment Flagship Initiative (SWEI) in the Green, STEM, and Care Economies (SWEI) seeks to increase women’s employment in the Arab States region by 5% by 2030 through innovative and collaborative approaches across governments, international financial institutions, the private sector, UN agencies, NGOs, and media. Private Sector Engagement for Women's Economic Empowerment National Consultant. will contribute to the effective management and implementation of the flagship initiative, by focusing on increasing decent employment opportunities for women through improving gender responsive workplaces and transformative partnerships with the private sector.
The work of Private Sector Engagement for Women's Economic Empowerment National Consultant is to scale the foundational work achieved in the region on the Women’s Empowerment Principles and ensure UN Women’s engagement on the WEPs implementation in the MENA region is further aligned with SWEI’s 5% employment goal. This includes defining a partnership approach that moves from transactional (activity-based) partnerships towards value-creating and innovative partnership approaches with the private sector, leveraging critical partners working towards similar goals. It also includes a strong, gender responsive private sector development approach to support companies in achieving a sustained increase in women’s employment before 2030.
Reporting to the Women’s Economic Empowerment Specialist, Private Sector Engagement for Women's Economic Empowerment National Consultant will support the implementation of the private sector pillar under the Jordan Chapter of the flagship initiative, whole coordinating with the Regional Office for Arab Countries.
Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work

National implementation of the private sector pillar under the Jordan Chapter of the flagship initiative effectively managed and coordinated
- Lead the rollout and implementation of the WEPs components under the Jordan Chapter, with a focus on Principle 2 unemployment and workplace equality, Principle 5 on gender responsive procurement, and Principle 7 on monitoring, transparency, and accountability.
- Develop and manage roadmaps, annual workplans, implementation plans, and monitoring frameworks for the private sector pillar, ensuring coherence with SWEI’s five percent employment goal and timely and quality delivery.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships for women’s employment, workplace equality, and gender responsive procurement
- Coordinate day to day implementation with private sector companies, WEPs signatories, service providers, government counterparts, business associations, and relevant national and regional partners.

Private sector engagement through the Women’s Empowerment Principles expanded and sustained
- Develop and implement strategic outreach and recruitment plans to expand WEPs signatories in Jordan, with a focus on the green economy, STEM, care economy, and medium to large companies with demonstrated potential to increase women’s employment.
- Reactivate and sustain engagement with inactive and recent WEPs signatories through targeted onboarding, follow up, and technical engagement on the WEPs business case, the seven principles, SWEI priorities, and the National Gender Seal
- Facilitate peer learning, networking, and business to business linkages among WEPs signatories to promote sustained engagement, practical collaboration, and private sector leadership on women’s employment.

WEPS signatories’ capacities to implement gender responsive workplace policies and practices strengthened
- Develop new training materials and adapt existing tools for WEPs signatories on Principles 2, 5, and 7, based on the capacity building plan and the needs of companies engaged under SWEI.
- Design and coordinate open and advanced trainings to support companies in institutionalizing gender responsive recruitment, retention, advancement, workplace policies, monitoring systems, and accountability practices.
- Provide tailored advisory support to selected companies to develop and implement action plans that contribute to measurable progress in women’s employment, retention, advancement, and workplace equality.

KACE and relevant national partners supported to implement the National Gender Seal
- Provide technical and coordination support to KACE in the rollout and implementation of the National Gender Seal, ensuring alignment with WEPs Principles 2, 5, and 7 and with SWEI’s employment focused results framework.
- Support the development and refinement of tools, guidance, company engagement processes, assessment approaches, and follow up mechanisms required for effective Gender Seal implementation.
- Facilitate linkages between the Gender Seal process and WEPs advisory support, capacity building, monitoring, and recognition mechanisms to ensure that participating companies are supported to move from commitment to measurable institutional change.

National and regional private sector engagement effectively coordinate
- Support coordination between the Jordan Chapter and relevant regional private sector initiatives to ensure coherence in approaches, tools, monitoring frameworks, and reporting on Principles 2, 5, and 7.
- Support preparation for the annual UN Women Arab States Private Sector Forum, including company engagement, prereview processes, documentation of results, and publication of good practices.

RECRUITMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, international collaboration, social sciences, or other relevant fields is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted inlieu of the advanced university degree is required.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in development and implementation, monitoring, and reporting on programmes related to gender and the private sector is required.
- Experience in the engagement of the private sector to serve women's economic empowerment in Jordan is required
- Experience in providing advisory support to the private sector on women’s economic empowerment is required.
- Experience in providing capacity building to and coordinating with different national stakeholders including private sector partners, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) is required.
- Experience working with the UN is desirable.
Languages:
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
