INTRODUCTION TO GGGI

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies. To learn more please visit about GGGI web page.

GGGI operates globally to support its Members and partners in the transition toward low-carbon, climate-resilient and inclusive economies. Its work spans a broad range of green growth priorities and brings together policy development, technical assistance, capacity building, investment mobilization and implementation.

As GGGI continues to expand its global reach, portfolio and partnerships, the organization is strengthening its corporate communications to ensure that its mandate, value proposition, results and impact are communicated clearly, consistently and compellingly to governments, donors, investors, partners, media and other key audiences.

The Communication and Knowledge Sharing Unit leads GGGI's integrated external and internal communications, branding, marketing and knowledge-sharing activities. The Unit is strengthening GGGI's corporate communications architecture, including the development of a new corporate website, and seeks to establish a consistent institutional narrative and messaging framework that can inform communications across the organization and its global network.

GGGI is therefore seeking an experienced senior strategic communications consultant to develop an integrated suite of communications products, including a corporate communications strategy, editorial and style guide, institutional and thematic narratives, core scripts, key message grids and corporate copy for GGGI's new website.

The assignment will be highly consultative. The consultant will work with the Communication and Knowledge Sharing Unit and engage senior management, technical experts, thematic leads, regional and country teams and other relevant internal stakeholders to understand GGGI's work, priorities, audiences and comparative strengths. These consultations will inform the development of the products, which will subsequently be validated with relevant GGGI stakeholders before finalization.

Objectives of the assignment

The consultant will review existing GGGI strategies, communications materials and relevant technical content and consult with senior management, thematic experts, regional and country teams and other relevant colleagues.

Based on this work, the consultant will develop an integrated suite of communications products that clearly articulates who GGGI is, what it does, its comparative strengths and the impact it delivers. The assignment will include:

  • Communications Strategy – a concise, audience-focused strategy covering GGGI's positioning, communications objectives, priority audiences, channels, approaches and measurement.
  • Editorial and Style Guide – practical guidance on GGGI's institutional voice, tone, terminology and writing conventions.
  • Corporate and Thematic Narratives – an overarching GGGI narrative and supporting narratives for agreed GGGI themes and strategic priorities. Core Scripts and Messaging – institutional descriptions, elevator pitches, boilerplate, key facts, proof points and adaptable language for speeches, presentations, media and other communications. Key Message Grids – practical messaging frameworks for GGGI's main themes and priorities. Website Copy – development and/or rewriting of core copy for agreed sections of GGGI's new corporate website, applying the new narrative and messaging framework.
  • Consultation and Validation – consultations with relevant GGGI teams during development and incorporation of feedback into final products.

This is a daily-rate consultancy for up to 40 working days over two months. The consultant will work according to an agreed workplan and submit timesheets for approval.
