Position Overview

The Investment Officer – Financial Products & Facility Management will support the design, operationalisation, implementation, and management of financing facilities established under the Global Solar Facility (GSF), including the Africa Solar Facility (ASF), regional financing facilities, and thematic funding initiatives. The position will contribute to financial analysis, facility operations, development of innovative financial products, fundraising, stakeholder engagement, and governance support. The Investment Officer will work closely with investors, fund managers, development finance institutions, governments, consultants, and other strategic partners to support the mobilisation and deployment of capital for solar and sustainable infrastructure investments.

Key Responsibilities

1.    Financial Product Development

  • Support the design and structuring of innovative financial products and financing solutions for solar and sustainable infrastructure projects.
  • Contribute to the development of blended finance structures, guarantee facilities, concessional financing instruments, insurance products, credit enhancement mechanisms, and other risk-mitigation solutions.
  • Undertake market assessments and research to identify financing gaps and investment opportunities.
  • Prepare concept notes, business cases, operational frameworks, and implementation plans.

2.    Financial Analysis & Investment Support

  • Develop and maintain financial models for investment funds, blended finance facilities, guarantees, and other financing mechanisms.
  • Conduct financial analysis, investment evaluation, scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and risk assessment.
  • Support assessment of fund structures, investment opportunities, and capital allocation strategies.
  • Prepare analytical notes, investment memoranda, presentations, and decision-support materials.

3.    Facility Operations & Management

  • Support the day-to-day management and monitoring of ASF and other financing facilities under GSF.
  • Coordinate with fund managers, facility managers, service providers, legal advisors, consultants, and implementation partners.
  • Monitor financial, operational, and impact performance of funding facilities.
  • Review periodic reports and track compliance with governance, reporting, and contractual obligations.
  • Support portfolio monitoring and performance reporting to management and governance bodies.

4.    Governance & Programme Support

  • Support meetings of governance bodies, including preparation of presentations, briefing notes, minutes, and action trackers.
  • Maintain project documentation, financial models, knowledge repositories, and reporting systems.
  • Prepare management reports, dashboards, and progress updates.
  • Support implementation and monitoring of strategic initiatives across GSF funding facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • MBA in Finance, Economics, Infrastructure Management, Energy Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline from a leading institution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, CA, or equivalent would be an advantage.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in infrastructure finance, project finance, investment management, fund management, development finance, transaction advisory, private equity, climate finance, or related fields.
  • Experience in financial modelling, valuation, investment analysis, portfolio management, or fund structuring.
  • Familiarity with investment funds, blended finance structures, guarantees, credit enhancement mechanisms, and other development finance instruments.
  • Experience working with fund managers, institutional investors, DFIs, MDBs, consulting firms, or infrastructure investors.
  • Experience in renewable energy, climate finance, sustainable infrastructure, or energy transition investments would be an advantage.
