UN Women plays a pivotal role in managing the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), the only global financing mechanism dedicated to supporting women’s participation in peacebuilding and humanitarian action. As the fund’s managing entity and technical secretariat, UN Women ensures strategic oversight, governance, and accountability while mobilizing resources and fostering partnerships to strengthen women-led organizations in crisis-affected settings. Through WPHF, UN Women channels flexible, quality funding and provides capacity-building support, enabling grassroots actors to lead humanitarian response, advance gender equality, and influence peacebuilding policies worldwide. The successful candidate will work directly on WPHF initiatives, contributing to its mission of empowering women and promoting inclusive peacebuilding and humanitarian action.

Reporting to Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund Program Manager, the Program Analyst works with and provides support to the members of the Programme Team in the development and implementation of effective programmes consistent with UN Women rules and regulations.  The Programme Analyst contributes to research, financial management, and programme implementation including providing necessary operational, administrative and programmatic support. The Programme Analyst works in close collaboration with the operations, programme and projects’ personnel in the CO and UN Women HQs as required for resolving complex finance-related issues and exchange of information. 

1.Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies in the area of WPHF

  • Provide technical inputs to the design and formulation of programme/ project proposals and initiatives related to WPHF. 

2. Provide technical support to the implementation and management of the thematic area programme  

  • Provide inputs to the annual workplan and budget as required; 
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of programme activities; 
  • Coordinate the call/request for proposals, including the organization of technical review committees, and capacity assessment of partners; 
  • Review and coordinate the submission of implementing partner financial and narrative reports; 
  • Train partners on Results Based Management.

3. Provide technical assistance and capacity development support to WPHF programme partners 

  • Provide technical support to and technically oversee the implementation of programme activities with partners;  
  • Identify opportunities for capacity building of partners and coordinate and facilitate technical/ programming support and trainings to partners as needed. 

4. Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting of the  WPHF programme

  • Monitor progress on programme activity, results and indicators;  
  • Monitor the implementation of proposals by responsible partners; 
  • Provide inputs to quarterly reports, donor reports and other reports on outputs, results outputs and outcomes.

5.Provide technical inputs to the management of people and finances of WPHF programme 

  • Monitor budget implementation and programme activity expenditures and perform budget revisions when required; 
  • Provide inputs to financial reports; 
  • Oversee the work of Programme Associates and Assistants as needed.  

6.Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies 

  • Provide inputs to resource mobilization strategies; analyze and maintain information and databases;  
  • Provide inputs to relevant documentation such as project summaries, conference papers, briefing notes, speeches, and donor profiles. 

7.Provide technical inputs to inter-agency coordination on WPHF  to achieve coherence and alignment of UN Women programmes with other partners  in the country  

  • Provide technical support to the Representative and Deputy Representative on inter-agency coordination related activities by providing inputs to background reports and briefs.  

8.Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts 

  • Provide technical inputs to background documents, briefs and presentations related to [thematic area]; 
  • Coordinate and support the organization of advocacy activities and campaigns events, trainings, workshops and knowledge products; 
  • Provide inputs to the development of knowledge management products on WPHF.  

9.The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Functional Competencies:

Education and Certification:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/ women’s studies, international development, or a related field is required.

  • A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) would be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in programme or project support, preferably in gender equality, women, peace and security, leadership and governance. 
  • Experience supporting programme implementation, coordination, and partner engagement. 
  • Experience working with civil society organizations, including women-led organizations and networks. 
  • Experience in organizing and supporting training, workshops, or advocacy initiatives. 
  • Experience in monitoring programme activities and contributing to reports. 
  • Experience working in fragile, conflict, or humanitarian contexts is an asset. 
  • Coordination and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency in Local Language is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
