The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called "Grow Green" Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI's operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in India to provide operational support for the project with title: “Cooling Demand Flexibility through Thermal Energy System (TES) and AI-Enabled DSM under the  Climate Technology Accelerator Fund (CTAF), supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT), Republic of Korea, aims to accelerate the deployment of innovative climate technologies in developing countries through strategic technical cooperation between Korea and partner countries. CTAF follows a phased approach comprising Pre-Joint Studies (PJS), Demonstration Projects (DPs), and Scale-up Projects.

India's cooling demand is projected to increase significantly over the coming decades, driven by urbanization, economic growth, and rising temperatures. While renewable energy capacity continues to expand, a mismatch between daytime renewable generation and peak cooling demand presents a growing challenge for the electricity system. Thermal Energy Storage (TES) integrated with AI-enabled Demand Side Management (DSM) offers a promising solution, storing cooling energy during periods of high renewable availability and releasing it during peak demand periods, improving renewable utilization, reducing peak electricity demand, lowering emissions, and enhancing grid flexibility.

GGGI is undertaking a Pre-Joint Study (PJS) entitled “Cooling Demand Flexibility through Thermal Energy Storage (TES) and AI-enabled Demand Side Management (DSM)” under CTAF, to prepare a whitepaper on the techno-commercial feasibility of TES and AI-enabled DSM in India's commercial buildings, and to identify a Demonstration Project site.

Broad project outcomes for the project are mentioned below.

1. Baseline Data Collection
   1. Support compilation of secondary data on India's current cooling demand, electricity consumption by cooling applications, sector-wise cooling demand across building typologies, daily/seasonal load profiles, peak demand contribution, regional differences, and demand projections to 2030 and 2040.
   2. Compile relevant national and sub-national policy documents (India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP), Energy Conservation & Sustainable Building Code (ECSBC), Demand Response regulations, Time-of-Day tariffs, Smart Meter policies, Energy Storage policies, DISCOM DSM programmes)..
2. Field survey and site data support
   1. Coordinate and support the  field-level data collection / survey for demonstration buildings identified by the Individual Consultant responsible for technology assessment and site evaluation, including building characteristics, cooling system details, and available secondary performance data.
   2. Assist with identification and mapping of key stakeholders (government agencies, utilities, building owners, ESCOs, technology providers, financial institutions, research organizations) and maintain a stakeholder database.
3. Data Analysis and Mapping
   1. Support data analysis of cooling flexibility potential (load shifting, peak shaving, pre-cooling, load curtailment, renewable energy integration) under the guidance of the Individual Consultants.
   2. Prepare data visualizations, maps, and summary tables for inclusion in the Pre-Joint Study Report and workshop materials.
4. Administrative and logistics support
   1. Support logistics for the national stakeholder consultation, showcase and validation workshop participant lists, invitations, materials preparation, and documentation of proceedings.
   2. Provide general research and coordination support to GGGI and the Pre-Joint Study team throughout the assignment.
   3. Any other tasks as assigned by the GGGI India Country Representative.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application meet the following requirements:

• Be a recent graduate (within the last 12 months) with Bachelor’s/Master's degree.
• Have pursued academics in a field directly related to the Institute's work.
• Possess an excellent command of English: both in written & spoken.
• Be very well-versed in digital tools for research, analysis and design preferably.
• Strong analytical skill
• Self-motivated and eager to learn.
• Ability to work in a team in collaborate effectively
• Must be a India Citizen
• Must have a personal Laptop

QUALIFICATION

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Science or related fields.
• Familiarity with topics relevant to the Institute's focus, such as climate change and green growth, through graduate, postgraduate, or certification programs is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with analytical abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Skilled in computer-based desk research.

SELECTION PROCESS

• Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
• GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.
• Due to high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Duration: The internship program is for at least six months. Once selected, interns must be be ready to begin the work with 2 weeks.

 Location: The hired Intern need to work with project team in Delhi (India).

 Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month (unless agreed to be funded by sponsoring institutions). All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.

 Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.

 Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.

 Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.

 Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.

 Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.

 Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.

Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
