The Scope

The Multimedia Content Officer develops engaging, high-quality digital content that strengthens FSC's visibility, credibility and stakeholder engagement across social media, digital platforms, campaigns, events and institutional communications.

The role is responsible for producing compelling visual and video content that translates complex sustainability topics into engaging, audience-focused stories. Working closely with colleagues across the Communications team and wider FSC network, the Multimedia Content Officer creates, captures, edits and adapts content for a range of digital channels while ensuring consistency with FSC's brand, messaging and accessibility standards.

The role is expected to work independently on assigned content projects, contribute creative ideas to communications initiatives, provide practical guidance on content formats and digital best practices, collaborate with external vendors where required, and contribute to improving content production workflows and processes. The role supports the implementation of communications initiatives through high-quality content creation but does not lead overall communications strategy or campaign management.

Main Roles & Responsibilities

Content Creation and Production
  • Create engaging digital content for FSC's social media channels, website, newsletters, campaigns, events and internal communications.
  • Develop visual and video content based on agreed briefs, key messages and communications priorities.
  • Capture short-form video content using smartphones, DJI Osmo or similar lightweight filming equipment to support social media, campaigns, events and digital storytelling.
  • Edit short-form and long-form video content using Adobe Premiere Pro, including sequencing, audio balancing, audio enhancement, captioning and formatting for different digital platforms.
  • Design graphics, infographics, social media assets, presentation materials and campaign visuals using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Edit and optimise images provided by colleagues or external suppliers, including cropping, colour correction, retouching and resizing for digital use.
  • Adapt existing content into multiple formats suitable for different audiences, platforms and communication needs.
  • Produce simple animated content and basic motion graphics where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with designers, videographers, freelancers and creative suppliers to deliver assigned content.
  • Maintain organised digital asset libraries, templates, source files and final content in shared systems.

Social Media and Digital Communications
  • Produce platform-specific content for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube and other relevant digital channels.
  • Create social media graphics, videos, carousels and other digital assets that support campaigns and organisational communications.
  • Develop and optimise vertical video content for mobile-first platforms, including short-form formats such as Reels, Shorts or similar content formats.
  • Contribute creative ideas that help communicate FSC's work in engaging and accessible ways.
  • Support the development of content calendars, production schedules and asset planning for assigned activities.
  • Adapt campaign materials across multiple digital channels while maintaining consistency in messaging and visual identity.
  • Support colleagues across Communications, programmes and regional offices by producing content that meets agreed objectives and deadlines.

Brand, Messaging and Quality
  • Ensure all content aligns with FSC's brand identity, tone of voice and visual guidelines.
  • Produce visually engaging, accurate and accessible content suitable for diverse audiences.
  • Apply accessibility best practices, including captions, readable layouts and alternative text where appropriate.
  • Review assigned content for quality, consistency and accuracy before publication.
  • Contribute to maintaining templates, brand assets and shared creative resources.
  • Identify practical opportunities to improve content formats, templates and production processes.


Campaign and Event Communications
  • Produce creative assets that support campaigns, events, launches and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Create event-related graphics, presentation visuals, videos and social media assets.
  • Capture short-form video content during events where appropriate to support live or near-live digital communications.
  • Adapt campaign and event content for use across multiple digital platforms.
  • Support post-event communications through highlight videos, social media packages and web-ready assets.
  • Collaborate with Communications and programme colleagues to ensure content supports agreed campaign and event objectives.


Analysis and Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor the performance of digital content using available platform analytics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engagement through content optimisation and creative approaches.
  • Contribute to testing new content formats, tools and production methods.
  • Stay informed of emerging social media trends, digital storytelling techniques and accessibility best practices, applying relevant learning to assigned work.


Collaboration and Functional Support
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across the Communications team and wider FSC network.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external creative suppliers to deliver multimedia content.
  • Provide practical guidance to colleagues on content formats, templates and production processes.
  • Support interns, consultants or vendors involved in content production where appropriate.


Budget Awareness and Vendor Support
  • Deliver assigned content projects within agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Support the preparation of creative briefs for external suppliers and freelancers.
  • Review externally produced content to ensure it meets agreed quality standards, timelines and FSC brand requirements.
  • Support tracking of deliverables and production schedules for assigned work.
  • Escalate delivery, quality or budget risks to the responsible manager where appropriate.

Your profile

Experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience as a Multimedia Content Officer, Content Creator, Digital Content Specialist, Multimedia Officer or in a similar communications role.
  • Demonstrated experience creating engaging digital content for social media, websites, campaigns or organisational communications.
  • Experience creating vertical video content for social media platforms, including short-form formats such as Reels, Shorts or similar mobile-first content.
  • Experience capturing and editing short-form video content for social media using smartphones, DJI Osmo or similar lightweight filming equipment.
  • Strong experience editing video and producing visual content for multiple digital platforms.
  • Experience creating graphics and digital assets using Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience working within established brand guidelines and visual identity standards.
  • Experience collaborating with internal stakeholders and external creative suppliers.
  • Experience supporting digital campaigns, communications initiatives or organisational events.
  • Experience in an international, mission-driven, sustainability, NGO or membership-based organisation would be an asset.
