Organizational Context and Scope

Under the general supervision of the Senior Resource Management Officer (SRMO) and the direct and technical direct supervision from the of the Senior IT Assistant based in Istanbul, the incumbent of this post will be responsible and accountable for coordinating the Information Technology component of all IOM IT operations under the Istanbul Office and field offices: Istanbul Clinic, Airport and Dedeman Hotel field offices.

Responsibilities

1.Provide onsite end-user support to IOM staff.
2.Verify that all user problems are answered appropriately via email, telephone call or in person.
3.Assist in the installation, operation and administration of the network components, which will include Cisco Meraki Routers, ASA Firewalls, Access Points and Switches, among others.
4.Monitor systems and networks (LAN, WAN) and perform essential maintenance.
5.Install, configure and upgrade desktops and laptop computers and software (Windows 10/11, Server 2008/2012/2016/2019, MS Office 2013/2016, O365 and in-house produced software).
6.Assist in the installation and administration of the security for the various system and network components, including protection against viruses, access to email and Internet.
7.Install and maintain telecommunication PABX system, call tracking, and provide monthly calls bill.
8.Assist in developing and providing training to end users to facilitate productive use of existing and new systems developed.
9.Maintain IT inventory and documentation, implement IOM standards, maintain up-to-date network diagrams.
10.Install and relocate the unit’s hardware and coordinate equipment servicing.
11.Implement and manage centralized backup system of servers and user data.
12.Support in the maintenance of present and upcoming ITC equipment.
13.Diagnose and resolve any hardware, software or connectivity problem with minimum delay.
14.Perform quality assurance procedures to help maintain client satisfaction.
15.Support in the configuration of the Motorola VHF and Codan HF network.
16.Keep abreast of latest IT standards and technology.
17.Provide technical support and assistance to end users of mission – critical applications such as OIPA,WAVE, Web-MiMOSA, SAP-PRISM, MAIA, etc.
18.Regularly report needs and progress on ITC issues in his/her area of responsibility.
19.Assist in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV systems, ensuring continuous monitoring and security compliance.
20.Assist the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the card reader access control system, and generate attendance system reports as required for administration and security purposes.
21.Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s diploma in computer science with at least three years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • High school diploma with at least five years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • A minimum 1 year of experience in networking environment (LAN/WAN).
  • Experience in Windows Server software in a multi-site environment, TCP/IP, MS Office, Antivirus Software, Backup Server software and IT utilities.
  • Excellent in problem solving skills and technical challenges with hand on experiences.
  • BSAFE and Information Security Awareness – Foundational training required.
  • Knowledge of IP, VPN, VOIP and LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Training on ITIL Foundation and/or PRINCE2 will be an advantage.

     

Languages

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, fluency in English and Turkish is required (oral and written).

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
