Consultant – Purchase & Stores


ICRISAT seeks applications from dynamic and motivated professionals for the position of Consultant – Purchase & Stores. There are two (02) vacancies for this role.  The incumbent will be responsible to build and strengthen a network of vendors for the organization by seeking quotations, negotiations, preparing purchase orders, tracking the orders, making, and renewing contracts, inviting bids, scheduling, procuring materials etc. This position will be based at ICRISAT’s Headquarters in Patancheru, Hyderabad, India.

ICRISAT is a non-profit, non-political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa with a wide array of partners throughout the world. Covering 6.5 million square kilometers of land in 55 countries, the semi- arid or dryland tropics has over 2 billion people and 644 million of these are the poorest of the poor. ICRISAT and its partners help empower these disadvantaged populations to overcome poverty, hunger and a degraded environment through better agricultural production systems.

ICRISAT is headquartered at Patancheru near Hyderabad, India, with two regional hubs and eight country offices in sub-Saharan Africa. ICRISAT envisions a prosperous, food-secure and resilient dryland tropics. Its mission is to reduce poverty, hunger, malnutrition and environmental degradation in the dryland tropics. ICRISAT conducts research on its mandate crops of chickpea, pigeonpea, groundnut, sorghum, pearl millet and finger millet in the arid and semi-arid tropics. Tropical dryland areas are usually seen as resource-poor and perennially beset by shocks such as drought, thereby trapping dryland communities in poverty and hunger and making them dependent on external aid. Responsibilities:


  • To Collect and execute purchase requests in a timely manner.
  • Prepare comparative statement by collecting quotations from the market.
  • Prepare Purchase Orders as per set policies.
  • Administer and monitor purchase activities according to set policies.
  • To issue and reconcile purchase orders, receipts, invoices, and packing slips.
  • Evaluate equipment, tools, materials for quality, price, support, and service
  • Adhering to the specification of the Purchase and Stores manuals.
  • Follow the instructions and safety rules at work.
  • Preparing request for purchase for stock replenishment.
  • Liaise with purchase department for timely procurement of materials and avoid stock out situation.
  • Maintaining all relevant files of store according to standard filing system

  • Carry out physical verification of stocks on a regular basis.
  • Manage stock audit reconciliations.
  • To carry out tasks assigned by the supervisors.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Any Graduate (preferably from Commerce, Engineering and Management disciplines) with a minimum experience of 2-4 years in Purchase and Stores activities
  • Having knowledge in end-to-end Procurement procedures
  • Experience in handling logistics.
  • Knowledge of working on ERP/SAP and proficiency in using MS Office packages.
  • Should have excellent oral and writing communication skills in English.


General:


This is a contractual position for a period of one year (12 months).
