Project Context and Scope

Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society.

IOM Poland operates from its Country Office in Warsaw and sub-offices across the country, supporting migration governance, humanitarian assistance, refugee response, labour mobility, migrant integration and other migration-related programmes.

The consultant will provide specialized communications support to strengthen the visibility of IOM Poland's activities, with particular emphasis on public information, awareness raising and production of multimedia communication products supporting ongoing programmes, including activities related to refugees and migrants.

The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Media and Communications Officer and overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, in close coordination with programme managers.

Responsibilities

Tasks to be performed under this contract
  • Support the implementation of the mission's public information, communications and visibility strategy.
  • Develop communication materials supporting IOM Poland's activities, including initiatives related to refugees and migrants.
  • Produce digital communications content, including photography, videography, multimedia materials and social media products.
  • Conduct photography and videography coverage during official visits, high-level meetings and programme activities.
  • Conduct interviews and collect testimonials from beneficiaries, partners and stakeholders in line with IOM communications standards.
  • Manage and maintain IOM Poland's digital platforms, including the Country Office website and social media channels, ensuring the timely publication of content, audience engagement, and compliance with IOM branding, editorial and communication standards.
  • Design and develop Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and other visibility products.
  • Support awareness raising and outreach campaigns implemented by the Country Office.
  • Undertake duty travel within Poland, as required, to document programme implementation and events.
  • Perform any other communications-related duties assigned by the supervisor.

  • Timely completion of assigned communications products and activities.
  • Quality and technical standard of multimedia materials produced.
  • Compliance with IOM branding and communications guidelines.
  • Timely support to communications requests from programme teams.
  • Effective collaboration with programme staff and external stakeholders.
  • Professional conduct and responsiveness throughout the consultancy.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Communications, Journalism, Arts, International Relations, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related field from an accredited academic institution.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in communications, public information or media.
  • Experience managing social media or digital communication campaigns.
  • Experience supporting outreach, advocacy or awareness raising initiatives.
  • Experience in photography and videography is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of migration issues or humanitarian programming is an advantage.

Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent drafting and reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design, photography, videography and multimedia content production.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and/or Premiere Pro.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

Languages

For this consultancy, Fluency in Korean and English (written and spoken) is required.

Working knowledge of an additional migrant language (especially Ukrainian and/or Russian) is an advantage

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes

  1. IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
