Research Officer – Capacity Development and Learning Management
Overview
The Research Officer – Capacity Development and Learning Management will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering training and knowledge empowerment programme to a diverse group of stakeholders that consist of staff, project partners and rural communities to ensure the effective implementation of project interventions, particularly for the GCF-Knuckles project.
Duties and responsibilities
This
position primarily supports the Sri Lanka Country Director in designing,
developing, and delivering capacity development programme for partners and
stakeholders involved in CIFOR-ICRAF projects. The role requires extensive
coordination and collaboration with government and non-government entities to
mobilize resources and institutionalize capacity-building initiatives in alignment
with project objectives.
Knowledge empowerment and skill
development (Human capital)
Design
implementation arrangements for the capacity development framework already
developed for the GCF Knuckles Project by consultants/project aligning with the
needs of the guidelines developed for project interventions.Coordinate
and facilitate training, workshops, including all stakeholder engagement events
and knowledge-sharing events.Develop
curricula, training and learning materials, and toolkits, where necessary, to
bridge the knowledge and skill gaps for achieving the stipulated goals.Maintain
the accessibility of training/learning programme through both conventional and
online learning modes.Effectively
coordinate with local training institutions, international and national NGOs,
and government partners to mobilize resources and ensure the sustainability of
capacity-building initiatives.Monitor
and evaluate the effectiveness of training programme and recommend improvements
based on feedback and impact assessments.Support
in research activities for students and interns, including facilitating and
evaluating their work.
Game-changing solutions
Represent
the organization in engaging with the public, private, and smallholder farmers
in various events – as a resource person, participant, and other relevant
capacity.Contribute
to local and national discussions on relevant topics of expertise in close
coordination with the supervisor and Sri Lankan senior researchers.Contribute
to strengthening the capacity of partners at national and subnational levels,
including facilitating and organizing training, workshops, and other events in
collaboration with partners and country teams beyond the GCF Knuckles project.
Structural capital
Support
the project team leaders to ensure accountability processes to donors by
contributing to timely submissions of reports and activities on the ground.Contribute
to project reporting, monitoring, and evaluation in collaboration with other
team members and project partners.Participate
in adaptive management reviews of implementation.Maintain
records on relevant stakeholder engagements (e.g., prior notice, list of
attendances and contacts, gallery of photos, agenda & minutes preparation).Contribute
to project communication by developing case studies, training reports, and
success stories.Track
the follow-up actions of the decisions taken in the meetings.Provide
monthly summary reports comprising type of engagement/meeting, decisions taken,
progress of follow-up actions and remarks, and contribute to the annual donor
reporting as required.
Education, knowledge and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in science/agriculture/forestry/Plantation management or a degree in any other relevant field.
- Master’s degree in technology transfer, capacity development, or a relevant field.
- Over 2 years of experience in designing, developing, and delivering training / capacity-development.
- Programs tailored to diverse audiences, including formal institutions, community-based organizations, and rural populations.
- Proven track record in planning and implementing successful capacity development initiatives in collaboration with local and international partner agencies.
- Proficient in IT tools relevant to training and education, with demonstrated ability to manage learning management systems (LMS).
Terms and conditions
- This is a vacancy for a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position. Landscape Alliance offers competitive remuneration in local currency, commensurate with skills and experience.
- Salary Structure: This position follows the Landscape Alliance salary scale for Locally Recruited Positions, with a monthly salary range of SLR 218,730 – 342,440, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience. We will provide benefits in accordance with the Sri Lankan government’s regulations. In addition, employee and authorized dependents are covered under the Group Medical Insurance Policy and Group Life Insurance Policy.
- The appointment is valid until the end of this year with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position, and available resources.
- The duty station will be in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
